A lot of the time, when we are insecure about ourselves and our bodies, it's usually only us that can see it. But that doesn't stop us from feeling insecure about it.
When we feel insecure about our bodies, we want to shrivel up into a ball and hide away from the world. But instead of doing that, I have another solution....involving fashion.
Instead of hiding away from the world and your problems, you can dress to disguise your flaws and point to your best assets. Let me explain how....
If you are insecure about certain parts of your body: let's say, thighs, stomach and upper arms, you can draw attention towards your face instead of to the areas of your body where you feel the most vulnerable.Your face is beautiful so you should be proud in showing it off. In this chapter I will give you a few example of how you can bring the attention away from your problem areas on your body and more towards your face.
Dress in darker colours. When you choose to dress yourself in dark and mutual colours, you will draw less attention to your body, and more attention to wherever is bold and bright enough to attract the eye.
I would suggest that the face and the area around it, (neckline, hair, ears, etc.) is a good place for you to draw attention to.Use statement earrings. Make sure that you choose bright coloured, bold patterned, flashy earrings that draw attention to your face more than your body. Earrings that drop down to the chin or jawline are a good choice because the attention is still kept around the face.
I would suggest figuring out your face shape, then researching the best types of earrings for your face shape. This will help to bring positive attention to your face instead of focusing on your insecurities.
Wear bright makeup colours. If you are in the habit of wearing makeup, (or even if you aren't, you can still give it a shot) you should spice things up a bit and add more colours to your look.
Try bringing the attention to either your eyes or your lips, in the most natural way possible. Choose to bring out either your lips or your eyes, but never both. The reason being is that you want to create as neutral a look as possible, not overdoing it.
If you think that bright makeup colours would work for your features, then by all means add them into your makeup routine. But if you think that bright colours would make you look like a clown, you can opt for more muted colours that will make you glow in other ways.
Layer your necklaces. You can layer your necklaces no matter what your insecurities are. If you have curvier thighs, layer your necklaces. If you have broad shoulders, layer your necklaces....they will make your shoulders appear narrower.
Layering your necklaces can be quite tricky for beginners, but once you've got the hang of things and you know what you're doing, you can really use the technique to your advantage.
Four good pieces of advice that I've learned along the way is:
1) Combine different styles.
2) Combine different lengths.
3) Mix different metals and colours.
4) Personalise your necklaces to be unique.
And you can break the rules if needed.
