July 15, 1575

I'm laying in bed when I hear a knock and  then my opens my door. "Your Majesty, I'm sorry to disturb you, I just wanted to say that Claude and Margot have started with decorating the hall for tonight's celebration." Emilia says and she sits down on my bed. "Thank you." I get up and look at some options of what I should wear today as Emilia prepares my bath. I decide that I'm going to wear a pink gown, it was a gift from my uncle King Henry III. He gave me the gown the day I left France, he gave me a hug and when he pulled away he looked at me and said "être courageux ma nièce pour la vie n'a pas été gentil avec votre mère et votre père. Je ne doute pas que vous serez une grande reine. tant que je vivrai, la France sera toujours ton allié." I looked at him with tears in my eyes and gave him a big kiss on the cheek and walked away.

After I'm done bathing Emilia fits me into my gown and prepares my hair. Once Emilia is done with my hair she places my gold crown that has beautiful pearls on it. I slip on my engagement ring and now I think I'm ready. "Thank you Emilia." we exit my bed chamber and go to the grand hall to meet with Margot and Claude. The hall is very decorated and food is being placed on the tables. I'll sit with my uncle and James at the middle of the table looking out at the rest of the guests. Margot and Claude see me and curtsy, "Has my uncle gotten out of bed yet?"

"No your grace." Claude responds, "I'll go fetch him, Emilia why don't you stay here and organize a seating chart." I leave and start walking to my uncles bed chamber. He is staying on the other side of the palace, I'm walking, and I realize I haven't had anything to eat and I'm feeling quite nauseous. Before I know it I'm bending over and throwing up. One of my servants rushes to me and asks if I'm alright. "I'm fine, thank you. I just haven't eaten all day. Get someone here to clean this up." she curtsies and runs down the hall.

As I reach my uncles bed chamber I knock but I don't hear anything so I open the door and walk in. When I walk in, I see Francis sleeping and one of the girls from the kitchen in his arms. I laugh, I can't believe him. It amazes me how he has only been here for a day and he already has someone in his bed. I cough very loudly so they both can wake up. The girl looks at me and her eyes open wide and she grabs her clothes and runs out. Francis is rubbing his eyes to wake him up, "Izabel you know its quite rude to walk into a bed chamber that isn't yours especially without their recognition." Francis says to me as he gets up and serves himself a glass of wine. "I knocked, and don't forget that this is my home. I thought it would be nice for us to spend some time together." he laughs and tells me to sit down and have a glass of wine with him. "Of course niece, why don't we go riding today?" I nod and when I take a sip of my wine, it does not sit well with my stomach. "Are you alright?" Francis asks me and he seems quite concerned, I'm sure he can tell by the look on my face that I'm not feeling good. Before I know it I'm up and running towards the window, I open it and throw up for the second time today. Francis is up and standing behind me with his hand on my back. "Izabel, are you sure your okay? maybe you should see a physician." I take a step back and shake my head, "Francis ill be fine, I haven't eaten yet. I'm sure that's why I'm not feeling so well." he looks at me concerned but I can see that he isn't gong to question me anymore. "I hope your right Izabel."

Once Francis is dressed and ready we head to the stables to retrieve our horses. "Izabel you know that you can trust me with your life. I will always be there for you." I look at him and I see a really sincere look on his face, he seems concerned. I don't understand why he's saying all of this to me. "thank you Francis." I grab his hand and give it a tight squeeze.

We reach the stables and get on our horses. I decide to lead the way to the border of England and Scotland. Francis is actually the person who taught me how to ride. My grandmother was quite against it in the beginning, but she eventually gave in. I love the way it feels when my hair is blowing in the wind and my only thought is that I wish I could go faster. I look over at Francis and he raises his eyebrows at me, "It's been a long time since we've raced each other lets see if you actually learned anything from me." I laugh and give my horse a gentle tap on its side and she goes faster. I look back to see Francis falling behind and I start to slow down but before I know it he passes by me and winks.

He makes it to the border before me and he looks so happy about it. " You need some more practice Izabel." he hops off his horse and grabs my hand to help me off mine. "Are those Knights always there?" he asks me, "Yes." is all I say. We sit underneath my favorite tree. "Tell me uncle do you not wish to get married some day?" I know one day he's going to be the best husband and father. "Someday it'll happen. Enough about me, tell me about your engagement to the King of Portugal." I look down at my engagement ring and remember the day he put it on my finger. I was so happy that day. "Sebastian is a great guy and he really loves me. I love him too." Francis looks at me like he doesn't believe what I'm saying at all. I just don't understand why he's questioning me.  "You don't love him. You're trying to but you know that you will never love him the way that you love Lorenzo." I feel sick, I don't understand why he's doing this to me. tears fill my eyes and I don't want him to see how much he's affecting me, "Francis what are you doing? stop questioning me. You are my uncle and I love you and you don't understand how much it hurts me that you aren't supportive of me." Without looking back I get on my horse and leave without him. I hear him calling my name but I don't look back.

Also here is the French to English translation of what Henry said to Izabel: be brave my niece for life has not been kind to your mother and father. I have no doubt you shall be a great queen. for as long as I live, France shall always be your ally.

When I write I like to picture everything about the story, the people, the palaces, the clothes. So that's why in most chapters I post what Izabel is wearing.

Below is the gown that Izabel is wearing during this chapter. As well as her crown.
