Just after a few hours of walking. We found a good spot in the middle of the forest to stay for the night. Without anything, we just used some twigs, to make a fire. The sun has already set and the moon is out. Our only light and heat source was this fire in front of us. I see Elizabeth trying to warm her fingers over the fire as I lean my back against the tree.
Zen and William come back to the fire and sticks mushrooms on the wooden sticks.
"Are you sure that Is edible?" I ask them
"I'm sure," William says and passes Elizabeth a stick with 3 mushrooms on it.
"Oh okay.." I reply, actually hoping Zen would answer it. I was going to ask Zen something when I notice how serious his face was. So I shut my mouth. William passes me a stick with 3 mushrooms as well and I put it over the fire till it's crisp brown.
I take a bite of it and it doesn't taste that bad. No salt but it's good. Elizabeth takes the empty stick out of my hand and put it to one side. "Are you guys tired? we will be patrolling so don't worry" William says and stands up.
"Wait," I say and he looks at me. "I can do that"
"Are you sure? You have to stay awake." William titles his head thinking if this will be okay for me.
"Yea," I say almost too excitedly.
"Alright, we will take turns. We will sleep first." Wiliam says and sits down against the tree. Zen leans against the same tree as William. I turn to look at Elizabeth already sleeping on the ground. I lean my back against the tree resting my head on it. The stars were already out and the temperature starts to drop. I lift my head back up to see William and Zen already snoring.
"I knew they were tired" I whisper to myself. I feel my necklace move on my chest. I take the necklace from underneath my shirt and held it in my hand. I look at them again, to make sure they are fully asleep.
I then let the tears drop from my eyes. Indeed, I am worried. I am worried about them. Everyone here knows something dangerous is coming after me and yet they are still here with me. I'm the one bringing the danger closer. I don't know how long this is going to last but I really hope this lasts.
Come back to me mum. I don't know how to stop this pain.
A few hours pass by and I am still awake of course. No one here knows this but my Grandfather trained me to stay awake the whole night. It's pretty crazy to train such a young child this right? but in these moments I am thankful for his teachings. Everyone was still soundly asleep. I'm not sure what time it is but I am sure it's very early in the morning. I do feel a little tired but I don't mind doing this. They already did so much for me.
William said to take turns but I guess he is too tired and I knew it. His eyes had really bad eye bags these 3 days. Now, let's let the old man rest. The forest is really quiet other than the crickets and frogs making sounds. It's pretty peaceful. My ears suddenly pick up the sound of leaves ruffling. There wasn't much wind. The air is pretty still. I frown and stood up slowly.
The side of my eye catches a shadow running past me. I turn and walk towards the direction. A bunny jumps out of the bush and I hold back my scream. "Oh thank God, it's just a bunny," I say relieved, and went back to sit down.

"Did I sleep throughout the night?" William asks me with huge eyes.
"Yup," I say popping the 'p'
"Wow, that was one good sleep" He laughs and pauses to look at me. "So I'm guessing you stayed up the whole night because Zen is still sleeping," he says almost amazed. I nodded. "arent you tired?"
"A little" I shrug like its nothing and he just looks at me amazed. " I was trained to do this so it's not a big deal" I get up to stretch my arms.
"Really who trained you?" He asks
" Well, you know I didn't have a home so most nights I stayed up because I had a hard time finding a place to sleep. Second, Is my Grandfather-" I say and took a breath "- He taught me to stay up through the nights."
"Your Grandfather?" He says almost like a question.
"Yes.. I lived with him for a while." I say hesitantly and tap on Elizabeth's shoulder to wake her up. She opens her eyes and got up slowly.
"I see," He says and taps on Zen's shoulders to wake him up too.
"So, where did you guys meet?" I say as Zen opens his eyes and stretches his arms.
William looks at me. " Well, I met Zen when he was 17. That wasn't a long time ago. He's 19 now."
"Oh," I say " am I the youngest here?"
"yes," William says and looks at Elizabeth. "Elizabeth is 22 this year. I'm 30 years old."
"I knew you were old," I say making Elizabeth giggle.
"Excuse me? The definition of old is-" I cut William sentence. "Okay so are we going now?" He looks at me and sighs annoyed. "yes. We are" He says and we start walking further into the woods.
I could feel my legs getting tired and my eyes seem a little heavy. My vision isn't that good as well but I did not say anything. We finally stop at a small village but something tells me, this is not a good place. The smell of this place is not humans living here. Its-
"Intruders!" We all hear a man shout and points his finger at us.
"Werewolves!" Zen Whisper-shouts."Run guys" Zen runs straight ahead first and we all run behind him.
"Why do they think we are intruders!" I shout
"Some werewolf packs are not that friendly apparently" William shouts.
A huge wolf jumps over our heads landing in front of us. He growls lowly and walks slowly towards us. "This way" Zen holds my hand and pulls me with him. We ran and ran until we could not hear any of those werewolves. We stop to catch our breaths.
"Where are beth and William?" I ask Zen worriedly while looking around the forest just filled with trees.
"Shit I think we lost them," Zen says while catching his breaths. My legs suddenly feel weak and I drop to the floor. In less than a second, I was leaning against his chest. My eyes start to close on their own and that's when I blacked out.
