There is never a good time to decide to fight, as much as there is never a good time to say a forever goodbye. But Ash knew he wanted to fight. Now, not only for him but also for his mother. A secret scar lived in her heart and he desired to help her, to help that same scar heal. Some say only wounds can heal, but Ash learned with Serena that scars can disappear. All it takes is love. He remembered asking her how was that possible since a scar can not disappear. Serena simply replied because with love, family, whatever makes us happy and fulfilled we forget about all the scars and fears we have because we found a reason to ignore them. Ash smiled at the thought of those beautiful memories. It seemed like so long ago when he last saw her, although it had only been a week. His heart ached to feel her soft lips on his again. But now more than ever, he needed a plan. He was sitting at a table next to Lillie deciding the flowers, the place, everything about the wedding. Ash wanted to say that she felt the same as him. That she did not want this engagement, this wedding. However, the way she was so into it, choosing the decorations, the food, the place, everything, it seemed like she wanted it more than anyone else.
Ash always saw Lillie as a friend, even though for a while to try and forget Serena, he thought she could be more. He was wrong.
"What do you think about these for the decoration of the tables, Ash?" Lillie asked Ash
"What?" Ash replied
"Yeah, just what I thought... You're on another planet. What's going on?" Lillie stared at Ash's auburn eyes, the ones she always admired and loved. She could not lie and say she did not want this. It was hard enough to let him go and see him with Serena. Knowing that when she could not find him in anywhere in the palace, he was probably with her. Kissing her, holding her in his strong arms, looking her deep with his lovely eyes... She envied Serena so much. She always wanted to get married by love and never be engaged to someone. But she loved Ash, although he did not love her back, he would be now forced to at least pretend to love her. And that somehow was already enough for Lillie.
"It's just..." Ash started but thought back on what he should say to explain the reason he wasn't caring about the wedding.
"You can tell me everything, you know... We're friends" Lillie replied
"That is the problem.. After this whole thing, we aren't going to be friends anymore. We are going to be husband and wife. Is this what you really want Lillie?" Ash let the words leave his mouth
"Ash, we don't have a choice. It's your father's wish"
"Lillie, I'm asking you if this is what you really want? If you truly wanna marry me knowing that I will never love you the way you probably want me too.."
"But you can start to..." Lillie muttered. Although, Ash heard. His mind wondered about what he could reply to her. He didn't want to hurt her... She knew how much he loved Serena, of how much she meant to him but somehow it seemed like Lillie still wanted this.
"Lillie, do you want this?" Ash claimed
Lillie stop looking at the decoration photos and looked at him straight in the eyes. Could she, right here and now, lie to him? "Yeah, I do..."
"W-Why?" Ash asked
"It's just I care about you...A lot, maybe more than I should, knowing how much you love Serena. But maybe this way you will finally let her go, your life won't be in danger anymore"
"Lillie I don't know what to say. That's very kind of you to care but I'm sorry. I don't think my feelings for Serena will ever change. There was more than one time in which with you I thought I could finally forget her, but I can't. That's why I don't want this. I want to be with her. But I care for you, you're like a best friend to me. I don't want to hurt and that's why I thought you should marry someone who truly loves you and it isn't doing this as a duty but because he wants to."
Lillie's eyes watered. She didn't even understand if she was crying because of her heartbreaking by Ash's words or because he cared enough for her to don't want to do this for her sake, for her future, for what he thought she deserved. " Ash, there is no way you can stop your father. His decision is made"
"I will try my best Lillie. I won't rest until I can actually make everything go back to what it used to be"
Ash got up, said goodbye to Lillie and went for a walk. This whole conversation had destroyed his mind. Now more than ever, he wanted and needed Serena's arms holding him. Her fingers running to his hair as she sang to him, with the most angelical voice he had ever heard. That was the only possible way he could feel at ease and relaxed at this point. Lillie had just confessed to him and he broke her heart. Above all he trusted her, she was his friend and even though he had hurt her, she wouldn't use Ash's words against him. 'I trust her... I need to help my mother. There's gotta be a way I can make things better. I want to have a happy ending like everyone else and I don't want to be forced to marry someone just because I have to. I don't want to marry Lillie. I wanna marry Serena and make peace to everyone. There are so many adventures I wanna live with Serena... Why god? Why can't I be with the one I love? I don't ask for money, power or anything else. I could live on a farm but if I had Serena I would be fine. I could be poor and have to work every day but if I had her right next to me every day and every night, I would be fine. But above all, I would be happy and fulfilled. I don't ask you for anything else except love. Please make my only dream come true...'
On the other side of the castle, the king, Ash's father, awaited in his throne room. He waited for the mysterious information that had been found related to his son. It seemed impossible to control him. He had ideas, plans, dreams. But most of all he had hope that he would see that unpleasant girl again. As opposed to his son, he had one dream in his life, have power. He would take it from anyone who would stand in the way, even if it meant killing his own son. He already threatened his wife, it would be easier to threaten his son.
"Your majesty, the girl is here"
"Let her in" A girl in a beautiful pale-green dress walked in the room. There was no way she was a peasant. "Tell me what did you find"
"Your son wants to destroy the wedding. He was completely distracted when it was time to chose the decorations, place...When push comes to shove, he said he would never marry someone who he didn't love. And even though he cared, he wanted for me to find someone who loves me..."
"Always such a gentleman, such a hero...My son has a way to convince people to do things in the way he wants to. He desires to be with that girl, but that can not happen or we will lose everything we ever wanted"
"He truly loves her, isn't there a way to..."
"Make them be together? Not a chance. Plus why would you want this? If you do it his way, you will lose him forever. But if you stick with me, he will be yours forever. You will be his queen and his wife. There would be no Serena. He will finally forget her after a while and he will only have eyes for you."
The girl looked at the king who looked confident in she will make the best choice, the one who would make her more than what she already was. The one in which her dreams will come true
"Fine, I will stick by your side but please don't hurt Ash"
"Oh I won't my dear but this wedding will go forward no matter how hard he doesn't want it. Thank you, Lillie. Without you, this would have been impossible. This way both of us can win"
