Angst | Jake x Drew : Rejection

Drew was planning to confess his feelings to Jake... That oblivious best friend of his that somehow captured his heart.

Drew was now standing in front of Jake's door, ready to knock any minute now.

His hands were shaking from nervousness. What if Jake didn't like him back? He always looked at Hailey with a kind of feeling.

Drew knocked on the door two times, hoping Jake was home.

"Oh, hi Drew." A voice came.

Drew looked up to Jake's heavenly face. His perfect smile, his messy but adorable blond hair, and his hazel brown eyes were where anyone could get lost in.

"Drew?" The voice called out again.

Drew snapped out of his lovesick gaze and regained focus. "Hi, Jake." He smiled.

Jake opened the door, allowing the tan-skinned boy in. "What brings you here?" He asked.

Drew gulped. "Well... There's something I wanna tell you." He said hesitantly.

"Well go on then."

Drew took a deep breath before saying the words that could change everything.

"I'm in love with you."

Jake stared at Drew confused at first, then he laughed hysterically. "That was a good joke Drew, tell me the real reason?"

He didn't believe him? I mean they argue a lot mostly about him joining the music club, but how could he not notice it?

"I'm serious Jake, I've been in love with you, for who knows how long. I mean it."

"Drew..."

Drew looked at the blond boy, hope-filled his eyes.

"I'm sorry... But I'm dating Hailey."

Drew looked like he was about to cry. Jake didn't return his feelings... Why was his heart aching so bad?

Jake doesn't like him back.

Jake doesn't feel anything for Drew that way.

Jake only sees Drew as his best friend.

"I'm sorry-"

"No, it's fine." But it wasn't...

"It's not that big of a deal anyway." It was a big deal...

"Can I ask you something then?" Drew asked hoping to see if Jake would agree. "Can I hold you? In a more than a friend way... Just for tonight?"

Jake nodded, sat on the couch, and motioned for Drew to sit beside him. If it's requested by his best friend, he'd do anything. Drew laid his head on Jake's shoulder and wrapped his arms around him. Jake did the same. He was quite uncomfortable with their position but didn't say anything.

Drew looked up at Jake's eyes, they were empty. He doesn't really feel anything for Drew. While Drew's eyes were filled with love and yearning. He really was in love with Jake.

Now Drew really wanted to cry, his eyes glazed over, and became glossy, he laid his head back on Jake's shoulder as tears came out.

Jake heard light sniffling, he looked down and saw Drew was crying. Jake felt bad, seeing his best friend cry, but didn't feel the urge to comfort him with Kisses and I Love you's. He was just his best friend.

Drew let go of Jake, and waved goodbye before walking out. He hated himself, he acted so weakly in front of Jake. While Jake didn't even act vulnerable back.

Why? Why couldn't Jake like him back? Why was it never Drew? Why Hailey? Was it because Jake wanted a wife with kids and family? The things Drew couldn't give him?

Drew ran back to their Manor, crying and sobbing. As he entered the house, he was greeted by their maid.

"Sir Drew? Is something wrong?"

"C-can you tell dad, that I'll transfer to Japan?" Drew said and wiped his tears away.

"O-oh! Okay! Right away Sir Drew." The maid scurried off.

~ The next day ~

Jake, Liam, and Henry were standing by the door waiting for Drew. The maid opened the door and got surprised when she saw the three boys.

"Hi madam, is Drew there?" Liam politely asked.

"He transferred to Japan."

The three boys were shocked and looked at each other for answers.

"Oh! And he left me this." The maid reached for her pocket and pulled out a picture. "There's a message for a boy named Jake at the back." She informed them as she handed the picture to Henry.

"Thank you, madam, we'll be leaving now," Liam said politely and they left.

Henry and Liam took a look at the picture and smiled softly. It was a picture of Drew and Jake laughing, with their foreheads touching, and arms around each other.

Jake was quiet, as they walked to school. He knew it was his fault... He knew he was bisexual, but he doesn't feel anything for his best friend.

"Jake!" Liam shouted. Jake remembered how Drew would shout at him when he wasn't paying attention.

"Huh?" Jake snapped back to reality.

"Here, read the message at the back," Henry said, handing him the picture.

"I hope you regret what you did." Liam huffed, grabbed Henry, by the wrist, and walked away from Jake.

Jake flipped the picture over and his eyes watered as he read it.

If you're reading this, I'll be already on my way to Japan, and I hope you know, that I won't ever come back to England again.

I need to have a fresh start, so don't even think of following me.

I don't want to see you ever again, I hope you'll have a happy life with Hailey. Goodbye Jake. I Love you.
