Gaara x Reader {Heart of a monster}

I was angered by this, but I didn't let it show in front of Gaara. "So where is a good place to eat?" I asked and he thought for a moment. "We can go to the place we did when we were children" He said and I lightened up. "That place is still running!? Let's go! That place was the best!" I said and started walking. "It's this way now, they relocated" He said and I nodded following him. 

When we walked in I noticed the woman who I remembered was still working there. "Hey!" I called out. She looked confused for a moment but then the realization hit her. "___?! Is that really you dear? Look how big you are!" She said and walked around the corner to hug me. 

I gave her a nice big hug and smiled at her. "I moved back to Suna!" I said and she smiled wiping a tear. "Oh, it's been so quiet without you" She said and I laughed. "I see you and Gaara are still friends?" She asked and I nodded. 

This old lady was one of the very few people who weren't scared of Gaara, since we did used to come here all the time as kids. "Gaara, it's been so long..." She said smiling at him. She wasn't scared of him, just knew to be cautious because Gaara changed a lot. 

"Hey, if I remember correctly, didn't you have a grand daughter who would work with you?" I asked and she nodded happily. "Oh yes, she is out right now getting some spices since I ran out of mine" She said and I nodded. "I'm sure she will be happy to see you! She missed you after you left" She said and I smiled reminiscing about the old times.

We ordered some food and the old lady went to the kitchen to start cooking. "I missed this place...I never found another restaurant with better food!" I said and laughed. "Hey! I know those two heads of hair!" I could hear a girls voice say. 

I looked over to see Aki, the old woman's grand daughter. "Aki! Is that you?!" I said excitedly. "Yep! The one and only!" She said and I ran over to her to give her a hug. "You grown up haven't you?" She said with a smile, followed by a chuckle. She was 3 years older than me and Gaara, she was like a big sister to me since I am the only child in my family.

"Foods done!" The old woman said walking out with some food. "Oh thank you!" I said and brought out my wallet to pay. "No need dear, take this as a welcome back gift" She said and I thanked her. "Well let's eat!" I said to Gaara and he nodded. We gave thanks and started eating. 

"Ah! It's so much better than I remembered!" I said and the old woman nodded. "I changed up the recipe a bit, to give it more flavor!" She said and I nodded. "I'm glad you did, it tastes better!" I said and she laughed before leaving to cook for the other customers.

"Thank you for the food!" I said and waved before leaving with Gaara. "Come again!" Aki waved back before going back to cooking. "Ah, that was amazing!" I said and Gaara nodded. "I'm so happy that not much changed!" I said and laughed. 

We made it back to the house, I went into the living room and sat down on the couch. "What a wonderful day it was!" I said and Gaara nodded, he took off his gourd and sat down next to me. We sat there in a comfortable silence for a bit. "Hey Gaara, I wanted to ask you about that tattoo on your forehead" I said and he looked over to me. 

"I made it a while after you left..." He said and I looked over to him. "What does it mean?" I asked and he clenched his fist. "I made it after I realized no one loved me, it means I only love myself" He said and I immediately sat up which made him look over to me. I grabbed his hand, and looked him in the eyes. 

"But I love you!" I said. He looked surprised and shocked at the same time.
