I felt a strange substance on my nose, and I bolted straight up out of bed. The last time I felt a strange substance Loretta had poured a bucket of water. Then I realized that it wasn't Loretta, it was Lady Evangeline leaning over to the side of my bed, holding a feather. I sighed a breath of relief. Evangeline smiled. "Morning Greetings." I smiled back, "Good morning." She walked over and patted a orange dress that was on the chair. "This is your traveling gown. The gown for the Ball is at the palace. We must hasten. Breakfast is set on the table. " I smiled gratefully. "Thank you." She shook her head, and said in a loud tone. "Helga!" Evangeline gracefully walked over to the door, and peeked out.
"There you are!" She commented, and grabbed the girl by her sleeve. "Violett this is Helga. Her assignment is to escort you through out your journey in Ourne. Now, Helga, would you please dress VIolett." It wasn't a question, more like an order weaved into a question with out the will of giving your own opinion.
Helga instructed me to slip off the clothes, so she could put on the dress. I will a bit reluctant, not liking the idea of anyone seeing me naked, but I did as I was told. Helga had really dark blond hair that was put up into a bun. Her eyes were light brown, and she had a plain purple dress on. She was heavyset, and short, but she had a naturally pretty face. I touched my own face, and realized that I hadn't looked into a mirror since I came here. I mean I saw my reflection in pools of water, but even that didn't tell me as much as I want.
Helga helped me put on the dress, and it was the perfect fit. I thought the gown was great, but I had trouble walking in it. The dress always swishes whenever I move my feet, creating a dramatic effect, and it heavier than what I'm use to. I slipped on the black ballet slippers, and was happy that I didn't have to wear heels.
Helga fixed my hair, and then we headed to the kitchen for breakfast. I noticed one dress that was Maya blue, and another that was Brink pink. Evangeline explained that the blue one was for Loretta, and the pink one was for Abigail.
Abigail and Loretta have not woken up yet, so I decided to write a note in my bad hand writing.
Dear Abigail,
We have already made our departure,
and I felt guilty for not getting the time to say a
form of "farewell" or "let us meet again".
We will hopefully get to speak during the
Royal Ball. I would be overwhelmed with joy
if Jordan would like to tag along as well.
Hope to see everyone, perhaps even Loretta,
in the near future.
~Violett Was Here
I left the note on top of Abigail's dress after we ate breakfast. Then Lady Evangeline hurried off to the carriage, and I followed.
The air whipped my face, and I remembered the dense forest, and calm grassy area. I saw the white horses, that made me slightly uneasy. There was another carriage by the front door, the one Evangeline said that they were leaving behind. I didn't have any sort of interaction with horses back at home. Its strange how there aren't any..cars. Perhaps this area is just remote. The coachman helped both of us to one of the fancier carriages, and we both sat down.
The carriage was lemon chiffon ( a creamy shade of yellow), and the seats were as smooth as silk. There were red roses painted in its interior, and two small windows on each side with curtains decorated with different designs. I moved the delicate curtain, and felt my heart thump as the carriage lurched forward, and the small house became even smaller.
