1 year later

Colleens POV

Our baby girl Lilly is 1 year old today and we are having her birthday party in my parents backyard. Everyone is here except for Joshs parents and family. We are flying out to see them in a few days for a little vacation. I am so excited for her that she is sooo loved and spoiled by everyone. She is very sweet and has blonde hair and crystal blue eyes like Josh. I have loved every minute of being a mom and well Josh is an amazing dad and they have bonded so well. She is definitely Daddys little girl. She is sitting on his lap outside watching the big kids play. Rachel is sitting beside him pregnant herself. Her and Matt married 6 months after Lilly was born in December and they are 3 months pregnant. Rachel is beyond excited and Matt is a nervous wreck. Typical for a first time dad. He reminds me of Josh when I first got pregnant.

I walk out with the cake for Lilly as everyone starts to sing. I walk slowly over to stand in front of Lilly and bend down so she can see her beautiful pink cake my mom made for her. Josh shows her to blow out the candles. Lilly doesn't know what to do so Josh and I blow the candles out and everyone cheers. I start tearing up just looking at her. This is how I pictured my life. With Josh and kids. I so want another one.

Josh POV

Colleen is holding the cake in front of Lilly and she looks so beautiful. After the candles are blown out I see her with tears in her eyes and I walk over to her as she puts the cake down on the table to start cutting it. I ask Rachel to take Lilly and I make my way over to hug Colleen. "Happy?" I say as I lean into her. "Very much so" she says. I kiss her cheek. "Me too" I say. Colleen seems hesitant on wanting to talk more. There is something going on in her mind. I remind myself to ask her later.

The rest of the party goes off without a hitch. The kids and adults have a great time. All the kids have long gone to bed and all of us adults are sitting around the bonfire. I am snuggling with Colleen. Rachel is snuggling with Matt. I start asking Rachel if she is ready for the baby. She says no way and starts laughing. "I will help you little sis" Colleen says. I smile. "Rachel are you going to do a home birth like I did with Lilly?" Colleen asks her. "Haven't decided 100% but most likely" Rachel says as she gets a hug from Matt. I close my eyes for a second and I remember a year ago tonight. Lillys birth. How amazing it was to be at home but how the I almost lost Colleen. Or at least I felt like I almost did. I snap myself out of it. I can't even think about that anymore it upsets me too much. My gorgeous wife sacrificed so much to give me Lilly. I don't think I could ever put her through that again.
