a little early

Colleen POV

Rachel and I are walking through Target getting last minute things for our babies. I love this store. My cart is full. We finish up and go to lunch. We are chatting about due dates and plans for the future. We are bonding so much over having kids so close together. My due date is 2.5 weeks out and I feel great. Josh was out with the kids at the mall a birthday present for LIllys little friend ,Emily. He didn't take his phone with him so I left him a note telling him I was with Rachel. I was actually hoping I would beat him home so he wouldn't give me heck for going out without him. He was getting very edgy about the due date and what Sam told us about staying home near the due date. I figured I was in the clear because I had some time before I was really close to the due date. I figured wrong. As we walked back out to the car my water broke. I looked at Rachel and she saw what happened and we walked as fast as we could to the car. My phone rang as soon as I was sitting in the car getting my seatbelt on. It was Josh. "Hello" I said. "Colleen you know I don't like you going out without me why.." he started saying as I cut him off. "Joshua my water just broke. Rachel is driving me home now. You need to call Sam. Her number is on the fridge. Rachel will take Noah and Lilly with her to her house" I say. There is complete silence on the other end. "Joshua?" I repeat. "Babe....are you okay? Oh my god how far from home are you?" he asks and I can tell the tears are starting. "Joshua I am fine. No contractions yet. We are 15 minutes away. Please call Sam. I will see you in 15" and I hung up.

Joshua POv

I am loosing it. The last two births Colleen was at home and Sam broke her water and shortly after she gave birth. This is the longest 15 minutes of my life. I wanted to be in control of the situation.

I heard the car pull up and noticed Colleen being helped out of the car by Rachel. I ran out to grab her and walk her in. "Colleen I am getting grey hairs again" I say. She laughs. "I am fine, I didn't have the baby in a car "" she adds. Rachel comes in and takes Noah and Lilly, I thank her and help walk Colleen up to the bedroom. She crawls out of her clothes and jumps in the shower quickly. I hear her scream and I run in to find her kneeling on the shower floor. Contractions are starting and they are big ones. I turn off the shower and dry her off. She has got her arms around my neck as I bring her back to the bed. I throw on her favourite long tshirt she has been wearing the last month. "Joshua my back is breaking baby" she is crying. I rub it and hug her. "Sam will be here soon Colleen. Hold on babe" I tell her. I hear the doorbell and run downstairs to get Sam. I hear Colleen screaming for me as I run up the stairs. My heart is breaking. She is really loosing it like no other birth. Uncontrollably sobbing. "Hey Colleen, so the baby wants out hey hun?" Sam says with a smile. "Sam please this is worse than with Lilly and Noah...please" Colleen begs. "Colleen get off your back. Stand up and lean into Joshua it will take the pressure off" Sam says. I pick her up and she stands leaning against me as I hold her up and rub her back. "Please don't cry Colleen. Lets remember how this little one was made babe. Its our miracle baby." I softly whisper into her ear. She looks at me with tears and kisses me softly. "I love you Colleen" I say. "i know you can do this" I add. Sam walks over to Colleen and asks her if she wants a local pain med for her back. "Yes Sam, Yes" she begs. "Josh just hold her still for a second" Sam asks me. Sam gives her a shot in her backside and Colleen flinches. "Remember Sam is taking care of you baby, she knows what you need" I tell her. Just then Colleen legs give out. She wants to lay down. Sam nods and checks her. "Colleen you are at an 8 honey, almost there. Roll on ur side okay?" Sam tells her. I roll her on her side so she is facing my leg. I rub her shoulders and back. She is starting to calm down a bit. "my back feels better " Colleen says. "I told you Sam knows what you need sweetheart" I say and kiss her. I smile at Sam and mouth "thank you" to her. She smiles. About 20 minutes later Colleen is ready to go. She doesn't want to be on her back, she wants to be on her side. So I sit on the floor facing her, eye to eye, She grabs my hand and starts pushing. I encourage her along the way. "Come on baby" as I kiss her forehead. Colleen is screaming and Sam announces the head is out. "Sammmm I need to push" Colleen says. I hold her hand tighter. "Give me one second Colleen, okay go!" Colleen screams with the last push. I watch Sam guide the baby out and I instantly see what it is. I hear the cry and I start to cry. Sam says "i will let Josh tell you what it is". "Baby its a little girl!" as I kiss her. "We have a little girl!" Colleen smiles. "Our family is complete Joshua, I love you" she says.
