Testing Fate 2/3

The day

Colleen POV

Today is the day we have set to be induced. Sam is coming over to start the ball rolling. It is August 1st only 9 days away from my due date and the baby is estimated to be over 8lbs so its time to get the show on the road. Lilly has gone to my parents until the baby is born so Josh is nervously pacing around the house making me nervous. "Babe you are making me nervous, don't worry" I ask Josh. "Sorry babe just trying to get into the right frame of mind" he says with his head in his hands. "What is your biggest fear Josh?  What do you think might happen?" I ask him while rubbing his back. "I might loose you this time" and he just starts sobbing. "Baby" as I hug him. "I am not going anywhere ok?" He nods and wipes his tears. "PLus Sam knows everything and so do we from last time" I add. He nods again. "Everything is fine" I reassure him. Just then the doorbell rings and I grab his hand and we go answer it.

Sam comes in and starts chit chatting with me. She looks at Josh and smiles. She knows like I do he is terrified. We walk upstairs to the bedroom and I get a gown on. Sam explains that she will be putting a gel into me to soften my cervix to promote labour. It works 90% of the time and this way we don't need any Pitocin which is an IV med to bring on contractions. We want to start with the gel. I nod and lay back as Josh looks white as a sheet. I squeeze his hand and he looks at me. "Its ok baby , please" I ask of him. He nods. Sam puts it in and says now I need you to lie here until we see if anything happens. So Josh climbs into bed with me and we just cuddle. A few hours into it I start feeling crampy. Sam is telling us this is normal and the start of it. An hour after that I have a light contraction as Josh starts rubbing my back. I go into the bathroom to pee and Josh comes with me. He sits watching me waiting for me to finish up and I just double over. "oh they are starting Sam" I yell to her. "Great Colleen...now you and Josh start walking and get this going" she says. So Josh walks around with me like he did with Lilly...stopping every once in awhile for a contraction. They are not as strong as with Lilly. Sam checks me and I am at 3-4 cm. I need to be at 10.

Josh POV

THis birth is making me nervous as hell. Colleen has been walking around for a bit but I don't think the pain is as bad as it was for Lilly. Sam checks Colleen after 6 hours and she is only at 3-4 cm. So Colleen and Sam have decided to use Pitocin. This will increase the contractions and the strength. Sam puts an IV into Colleens hand and starts the drip. Thirty minutes in Colleen is feeling it. There is no more walking around she is in bed for good. I have a cold facecloth on her forehead as she is sweating and breathing hard. "Baby are you doing ok?" I ask her. She nods. I kiss her forehead and let her squeeze my hand as hard as she wants. Colleen starts screaming and asking Sam to check her. "Colleen you are only 5 cm still hun....keep breathing" Sam says. I hear panic in Colleens voice and that scares me. I climb beside her and hug her tight and rub her back. "Joshua....it...hurts..so bad" Colleen is crying. I start to cry and Sam just smiles. "Colleen you want that baby in your arms remember. You can do this. I believe in you" I say. JUst then Rachel walks into the bedroom. Colleen wanted her. "Hey sis you breathing ?" she bends down to talk to Colleen. Colleen nods and doesn't even open her eyes. "Colleen remember you told me to breathe with Olivia...do the same" as she rubs Colleens cheek from tears. Colleen nods again. Rachel looks at me and squeezes my hand. I smile. She can tell I am upset. "Colleen, Josh and I are going to get a drink for you and be right back ok? Sam is here" Rachel says. I stand up and make it to the hallway and Rachel closes the door. I crumble. I am not made for this. Rachel hugs me. "Josh this is childbirth. She is fine" she says. Just then I hear Colleen scream like never before. I run into the room and Sam is checking her. I run back over to her and hug her. Sam decides to break her water . She asks Colleen to raise her butt so it doesnt ruin the bed and she places a waterproof sheet on the bed. I help her and Sam then breaks it. "Oh my god that feels so much better" Colleen says and looks at me smiling. "Good I am glad. Sam knows what she is doing babe" as I stroke Colleens cheek as we all giggle, Colleen continues on for about an hour. She is exhausted. Sam checks her for the millionth time. "Okay lets go Colleen" Sam says. I climb behind Colleen so she is laying against my chest. Colleen is crying. It is breaking my heart. "Baby its almost over" I tell her. "I can't do it this time Joshua. I am scared" she says. Rachel leans into her "remember how Sam said I was better than you at pushing? Prove her wrong!" Colleen smiles and starts pushing. I smile at Rachel because it changed Colleens mindset. I kissed the top of her head, "keep going baby" I said. We all counted until the head was out. "OH my god get it out , get it out Sam" Colleen is yelling. "I am sweetheart but you need to give me a second. One more push Colleen" Sam says. JUst then I heard a cry. Sam asks me to announce the sex of the baby. I look down and see a boy. "Colleen baby we have our Noah!" and I hug her. We are both crying. "Thank you baby" is all I can say. "A piece of cake, I am ready for a third " Colleen says and Rachel, Sam and I all start laughing."Oh no don't even go there Mrs Evans" I say laughing.
