Chapter 13

Chris's POV

Cmon cmon. Where is that Nurse?! She said 10mins, it's probably been half an hour by now!

I hear thumping heels coming my way and I look up seeing the nurse. Finally!

"You may now go visit her. She is still asleep, but she should wake in maybe 5 - 10mins." The nurse said plainly.

I nod and stand up. She leads me to room 247 and opens the door. And for a second, I was a bit nervous.

Then I see her.

She lies on the hospital bed, still, looking almost lifeless.
Was the punch really that bad?

I pace slowly over to the bed which Lara lies in and I kneel beside her.
A tear escapes out of my eye. I hate seeing her in this condition. She is my life, I've only known her for a month or so, but she means the world to me.

The nurse interrupts my thoughts and says that she wants to ask me a few questions.

"Ok.." I say, still staring at Lara. Then I turn around and the nurse motions me to sit down on one of the chairs. So I go and sit.

"Ok first of all, what happened?" She asked.

"Well, we were both at the park, and we decided to go home because it was getting late. So Lara went ahead and I followed behind her. Then, Lara's ex boyfriend, named Isaac, came out from nowhere and grabbed Lara by the collar. I told him to let her go, and of course, he said no." I answered while she was jotting down notes and nodding. "So I approached Isaac but he punched me in the stomach. It didn't really hurt, then he knew he could hurt me so he punched Lara in the head instead."

"Mhm, thank you. I'll let you have some time alone with her for now." And with that, she leaves the room.

I go back, kneeling beside Lara, just staring at her.
Then suddenly, her eyes flicker open.

"Lara?" I say gently, trying not to scare her.

She groans a little and let's her eyes adjust to the light.
"Umm....

who are you?"

No. Please no.
"L-lara? It-it's me-e, Ch-chris" I say, my voice cracking.

"I'm sorry, do I know you?" She questions with a blank expression.

I feel tears welling up. Chris, don't cry.
"Please tell me this is a joke" I wobble.

"Uh, I'm really sorry, I really don't know who you are" Lara says, looking unsure.

That's when I feel the tears run down my face. This can't be happening, she has to remember me!

"Am I in the hospital?" She asks. "Could you please tell me the whole story?"

I sigh. "I am your boyfriend, and we were both at the park. We were leaving but then your ex boyfriend, Isaac, punched you in the head. And here you are now, in the hospital."

"Oh." Is all she could manage to get out.

"I'm just gonna call the nurse one second." I say picking up the phone.
I call the front desk and they said she'll be here in a minute.

Then the nurse and the doctor come in.

"Oh she's awake! That's good!" The doctor says.

"No it's not good! Sh-shes lost her m-memory." I say. And I cry a little some more.

"Really? I didn't expect that.." The doctor says.
He then goes to Lara.

"Do you remember anything that has happened before you woke up?" The doctor asks Lara softly.
