Chapter 33

We're walking out, our heads are high
Anticipation, win or die
It's in the air

The Rising by Dallas Stars

I knock on the front door. The Uncle I'm assuming opens the door, and Dean and I walk in. "We heard screams. What's going on?" Dean asks. "Oh, you two! Did you touch my daughter?!" The father yells as he walks over glaring at Dean.

"What? No." Dean says. "Who are you guys?" He asks. "Relax, please. You have a ghost." I blurt out. "A ghost." The father chuckles. "I told you!" Kate yells. "It's the girl!" the little boy yells. "Both of you, relax. What are you guys playing?" The father asks Dean and I. "Your family's in danger. You need to get out of the house now." I say just as the lights go out.

"What the hell?" The uncle asks. "Nobody move!" Dean yells out. "Buster!" The little boy calls out as a dog howls outside. The father leaves, the uncle, Dean and I follow him. God these people are idiots. We told them to not move and what's the first thing they do. They split up.

"Buster!" the father calls out as we look around. "What the hell?" The uncle asks. I go to see what he is looking at and the words 'TOO LATE' are painted in red. The others come out onto the porch. "Buster!" The little boy cries.

"Go back inside. Go!" The father calls to them. "We are not the bad guys, but you're in danger." I say. "First thing's first. You got to get your family out of here." Dean says to the father.

"Head to the motel I was talking about. You'' be safe there." I say. "What are you two gonna do?" He asks as we take them to the vehicles and that is when I see that all the tires on all the vehicles are slashed. I quickly go to the trunk of the Impala and open it but only to find it empty.

What the actual fuck is going on here...I don't think we are dealing with a ghost here. "Oh no! Come on!" Dean yells. "Dean the guns are gone...basically, everything is gone." I say as I slam the trunk closed.

"Trucks no good." The uncle says as he slams the driver's door. "Both tires slashed." The father sighs. "What kind of ghost messes with a man's wheels?!" Dean yells angerly. "What's going on?" Kate asks, then she screams. "She's there! She's there!" She screeches. "Where?!" I ask looking around, but I see nothing. "She was right there in the woods!" Kate cries from the porch.

"What's a ghost doing outside?" Dean asks me. "You want to stay and find out?" I ask. "Everybody inside." Dean calls out. "Are you crazy? We need to get the hell out of here!" The uncle yells. "In what?! This ghost is hunting us! Ted!" The father yells. "Brian stop it!" The woman yells. "Everybody back inside now! Susan, Danny, Kate inside!" Brian yells.

~DINING ROOM~

"Whatever's outside, it can't get in this circle. As long as the salt line is unbroken, this is the safest place to be." I say. "Safe from ghosts?" Brian asks. "Yes, as a matter of fact." I say. "Okay. I'm not listening to this anymore. Come on. I got to get my family out of here. Let's go." Brian scoffs.

"Nobody's going anywhere until we kill thing." Dean snaps. "Sir, please. This is what we do. Just...trust us." I plead. "You hunt ghosts?" Danny says, looking up at me. "That's right." I say with a smile. "Like scooby-doo?" He smiles.

"Better?" I wink. "You saw her outside, right? Okay. Does she look like either one of the girls?" Dean asks as he holds out a photo graph that Mrs. Curry gave us. "Her. She was paler and a lot dirtier, but that was her." Kate says as she points to one of the girls in the photograph. "That's the girl in the walls." Danny says.
