Chapter 1

   Aarthi

It was a very cold, rainy day today. As soon as the clock ticked 5:00am Aarthi woke up hearing the sound of the alarm, the sound she hated the most. Immediately she got out of the bed and completed her morning chores and got into her uniform and tied her hair into a low bun.

Aarthi was not an extremely gorgeous girl but she had beautiful features that made her stand out. Aarthi was 5'5 in height with a slim figure and pale face.

Sharada and Radikha was still asleep so without making much noise she went downstairs to the kitchen and ate a toast before leaving for the long shift. Aarthi's dream was to study medicine but her parents died when she was 12 years old after that she moved in with her mums sister and daughter as she had no other family to go up to. Aarthi very well knew that her Aunty wouldn't be able to sent her to medical school also she didn't want to be a burden to her Aunty or daughter. After 12th Aarthi decided to work to support her Aunty but after a lot of persuasion from her Aunty she joined a nursing school and therefore is a nurse now which is a profession she equally loves and respects just like a doctor.

Aarthi eventually wants to go abroad and work as a nurse as there are more opportunities available outside India but at the moment she can't save up for that has she has taken the responsibility of Radika's studies, Radika is currently pursuing a sociology degree.

Finally after the long journey Aarthi reached the hospital she works in, her regular patients and colleagues greeted her and without delay she started her work. Aarthi works in an cancer ward, everday seeing those poor souls breaks Aarthi's heart but as a nurse she motivates them and supports the patients as much as she can, maybe that is why most patients and colleagues adore Aarthi.

The word marriage is not in Aarthi's dictionary, she isn't thinking of that at the moment as she has many priorities above that.

Siddarth Agarwal

Siddarth Agarwal who is an engineer by profession manages his own company, Siddarth isn't a multi millionaire or anything but he earns enough to lead a luxurious life. Siddarth lives for his sister and grandparents who looked after him when his parents died.

Today Siddarth is taking his sister Ananya for her chemotherapy. Recently Ananya had been diagnosed with blood cancer, the family felt devastated hearing the shocking news especially Siddarth. Siddarth even questioned his whole existence once she was diagnosed with cancer, it took Siddarth a long time to come back to reality. Normally Ananya goes with her grandfather Mr Ashok for chemotherapy but today Ananya has requested Siddarth to take her, Ananya has started losing her hair as a side effect of chemotherapy. It is painful to but the confidence and maturity of Ananya dealing with is incredible and really an inspiration. Ananya's confidence is only Siddarth's relief and Siddarth has to stay strong for his sister.

Lazily Siddarth got up from his bed, did his morning chores and wore a casual shirt and trousers. Siddarth was a well built man with an height of 6'1 with a beard which complimented his looks. Ananya was already waiting for him downstairs, seeing Siddarth coming downstairs Ananya urged him to come faster as the time was running out  "Sidd come faster" Ananya screamed, Siddarth sighed and came downstairs.

Soon they set of and they started their conversation on chemotherapy which eventually led to Aarthi. Yes Aarthi was the word Siddarth heard frequently, his sister would talk non stop about that nurse. Siddarth was glad that his sister had someone to support her during this stage. Ananya was a very reserved young girl who didn't have many friends.

"I'll show you Aarthi today, I'm sure she's working today" Ananya told Siddarth eunthustically.

"How come your fond of Aarthi this much ?" Sid asked her

"She's so caring Sid. Do you remember how scared I was when we first found out I had cancer ? She's the one who transformed me into a much stronger girl. Without her I don't think I'd still have made it" Ananya said quietly

" Hmm I can understand Anu, if she has influenced you this much then it's worth seeing her" Sidd said smiling at Ananya.

Soon after an half an hours drive they finally reached the hospital. Aarthi was giving medications to a patient when Ananya and her brother came into the ward. After giving the patient the medicine Aarthi rushed up to Ananya and hugged her "how are you dear ?" Aarthi asked Ananya with a smile.

"I'm good Aarthi. All ready for the treatment !! How about you Aarthi ?" Ananya asked.

"I'm good too dear. Come I'll take you to the doctor for the general health check before the chemo." Aarthi said but Ananya stopped her "one min Aarthi let me introduce my brother to you". That's when Aarthi noticed a tall figure standing next to Ananya, but that tall figure hadn't left his gaze from Aarthi's face, not because of love at first sight or anything but because of how he felt a connection to those compassionate eyes. 

Both of them briefly greeted each other, then Aarthi asked Siddarth to wait as she's going to take Ananya for the general health check.
