Memories swam through Sophie's head. They weren't new, but they didn't feel like her own. It was as if she was just a spectator, watching from the sidelines.
She saw memories of her friends, laughing with Keefe and Dex, getting a makeover by Biana and Linh. Well, maybe that one wasn't fun at the time, but looking back, Sophie was glad she got to spend that time with them. Sophie saw the first time she met Fitz, it felt like so long ago, when Sophie was still the "Child Prodigy", before she knew of the Neverseen, before Sophie swore fealty to the Black Swan.
She didn't regret moving to live in the Lost Cities, but Sophie wished she had enjoyed her time without the Neverseen in San Diego more.
Shouts and the clang of metal swirled in her mind with the flickered sound of flames. Her vision began to blur, blue and black blended together, a flare of red thrown in. She could hear the padding of footsteps and the drop of a weapon.
Water lapped over her ankle, cooling the burning sensation that continously spread throughout her body. Her blonde hair flittered in a harsh wind, blowing over her like the frost that suddenly coated the air.
Sophie's breath was ragged as she stared into the sky, dusk running daylight out, red bleeding into blue.
A light humming sound began as a dome surrounded her, the hexagonal patterns glistening, trapping a little amount of clear water in with Sophie. The roaring sounds of the battle were muffled, leaving herself only to rest.
