kaiya glanced at her friends, all of whom seemed a bit bored. what, had she told them about her second encounter with shirabu? i mean, she probably had, though not in any details.

"yeah yeah, we know this story already," aiko yawned, looking away from the group towards the kitchen. "does anyone want anything to eat?"

"you asked for the story," kaiya defended with a shrug. at the looks suzuki and himari were giving her, she stared back. "fine, do you want to know how we actually became friends?"

"wasn't it at your guys' first nationals?" himari questioned, a thoughtful look on her face.

"yeah, it's funny how we went from arguing constantly and glaring to slowly becoming friends," kaiya nodded. actually, now that she thought of it, how had they even become friends? it kind of just- happened, and that's how she, shirabu, and kawanishi became almost inseparable for the rest of the tournament, obviously they slept in different rooms and when they were on the court and kaiya was on the bench were pretty much the only times they weren't together, all the obvious times they wouldn't be together.

being at your first nationals tournament could be overwhelming. with all the teams, spectators, school cheer squads, etc, the venue for the tournament could sometimes feel claustrophobic, depending on how you look at it.

maybe that was why kaiya was more anxious than ever. she knew that over 100 teams competed in the nationals tournament, which was 1200 people in one place at the least. that wasn't including the coaches, managers, cheer squads, spectators, it was just the teams.

that was probably why kaiya felt herself shaking, though she concealed that fact as she hid her hands behind her back. she was currently in the ring outside the arena, walking with semi and tendō as the trio went to get some food. when semi and tendō had announced that they were going to get food, kaiya took this as a chance to get out of the packed arena, offering to get food for the others if they wanted as well. no one else had wanted anything, but that didn't stop kaiya from leaving with the two second years.

her leaving was also another excuse to get away from a certain salty setter. the pair had been arguing almost nonstop since they had entered the arena that morning.

it was safe to say that everyone on the team was getting so fed up with the arguing between kaiya and shirabu, it was almost to the point where the entire team was thinking of locking the pair in a room together to force them to talk it out, or at the very least, fight it out until they went to ignoring each other.

that would definitely be worse case scenario. their first string setter and manager completely ignoring each other.

kaiya was shaken out of her thoughts when a loud exclamation of "KATA-CHAN!" sounded right next to her ear. flinching slightly at the exclamation from the hyperactive redhead, kaiya glanced up to see who this "kata-chan" was. kaiya's eyes widened when she spotted a ravenette with long hair that reached past her back, her blue eyes shining with excitement upon having landed on tendō and semi. she was extremely beautiful in kaiya's eyes, especially since it seemed as though this kata-chan didn't realize her beauty.

"satori-kun! eita-kun! long time no see," she called with a wave, almost getting tackled to the ground by an excited guess monster. "satori-kun, really?" she laughed lightly at the middle blocker as she hugged him back. semi just looked on in amusement, having already known katana would be showing up to the tournament. finally being released from tendō's hug, katana finally caught sight of kaiya, smiling kindly at her with a look of curiosity in her eyes.
