Chapter Seven - Let's Go Kick Some Vampire Butt

"So... what now?" Flame asked as we all stood around the room, wondering what to do.

"Well, uh..." Gerard proposed, only now the fear of going outside our 'basecamp' with a load of Vampires dawning on us.

"Some of us can collect supplies while the others can stay here and try to make this room safer. We'll bring all the food and stuff back here and try to find some weapons on the way. Sound fair?" Bob asked, looking at all of us in turn, eyebrows raised in questioning.

"Yeah," Gerard replied, "Sounds good. So, who doesn't want to go?"

Almost immediately Mikey and Ray raised their hands, Flame shortly after,

"I don't want another run in with Frank..." She stated simply, shaking a little.

"Okay, I understand," Gerard smiled comfortingly, "Bob, Thorn, Elena and I will go. Is that alright?"

Everybody nodded their agreements and we all stepped closer to the door, breathing heavily.

"So..." Elena muttered, "Who wants to go first?" We all laughed a little nervously, feeling the sweat trickle down our backs and settle on our brows.

Bob wiped his face with his sleeve,

"I'll go first."

"Okay." Gerard mumbled, fixing his eyes on the door. I noticed as Bob approached the door, everybody took a step back, studying his hand as it reached for the handle, scrutinizing his fingertips as they quivered when his hand made contact with the smooth, metallic material of the door handle.

His hand closed around the door, and as I glanced quickly behind me I noticed Flame hiding her head in Mikey's hunched up figure, Ray peeking through his fingers at the scene unfolding in front of him.

By the time I turned my head back to the door after giving the cowards on the sofa an encouraging smile; Bob was slowly opening the door.

I let out a small gasp, and everyone turned to look at me, annoyance and panic written on their faces.

"N-nothing." I squeaked out, too scared to go red like I seem to have been doing very much lately now I'm around My Chemical Romance.

Elena gave me a weird look then turned back to the door where the door was opening more and more, total darkness the only thing that I could see past it.

Finally Bob opened the door to its full extent, peering out into the gloom.

"Anything there?" Gerard asked as the rest of us waited with baited breath.

"I don't think so..." Bob muttered cautiously, just waiting for the Vampire to jump out at him just as he gives the all clear- like in all the cliché Vampire/horror movies.

But this isn't your normal cliché Vampire horror story.

Oh, no. This is much worse.

But, fortunately, nothing jumped out at us as we all crowded in the doorway (minus Flame, Ray and Mikey) waiting silently for a couple of minutes, hearing nothing but each other's breathing and the rustle of clothes as we shifted our weight from one foot to the other.

"Urm... I think it's safe." Bob eventually broke the silence, hand still curled around the door handle, knuckles whitening at the pressure of the grip he was applying.
