The sun shun bright in the now cloudless sky. Almost too bright. The duo watching the sun rise, seeking refuge in the house from the bright glow of the sun. Wondering in to the quiet place where the other slept still. Lydia wandered into the kitchen, heading right for the coffee machine as gracefully as she could. But she could feel her need for the caffeine. She began setting it up as the demon wondered towards the freezer. Pulling out another pack of frozen waffles. He opened them, pulling out two and biting into the frozen dough. Lydia arched her brow at him as she watched.
"You want me to heat that up for you" she asked him sarcastically. He turned to look at her with the food in between his teeth. He shook his head as he knitted his bows at her. "Nah I like it like this" he told her as he snapped off the pieces to eat. She turned to him as she gave him a half lidded stare.
"You sure about that or did you not know you could heat them up and are sticking to your guns" she prompted. He stood up then waved his hands. A shot gun appearing in his hands as his outfit changed. No longer wearing his pajamas he stood in boxers and a torn up wife beater. A pair of sun glasses on his face and A red cap on his head.
"Well I think guns do be legal" he spoke as he cocked the gun with both hands. Lydia laughed at his antics. "Next your gonna shoot it and a stick with a scroll on it will pop out, unfolding to read 'bang' " Lydia motion her two fingers as if she was firing a gun. Beetlejuice made the gun disappear along with the outfit. Standing in his pajamas once again.
"Gages ya know I love em" he told her, moving to lean on the counter. Lydia poured herself a mug of coffee. Bringing it close to take in the heat and smell of it. She giggled again at his admission. Slowly she put the mug down on the counter. Looking up at her companion and his smug looking expression. Something in his eyes gleamed almost joyously. The moment interrupted by a high pitched voice.
"Aw like gross" Claire's annoying voice spoke up. Causing them both to groan. "Say cheese" she said. They both looked at her with wide eyes. Seeing that she held her camera phone out to take their picture.
"No" Lydia shouted, rushing to try and cover the demon. He also moved to try and not get caught. Hiding behind her small frame. Unsuccessfully.
"Geez like relax its just like a photo" the dissed as she waved off their urgency. But it wasn't just a photo. Lydia knew what happened when ghosts were photographed. They didn't appear in the photo's mortals took. Lydia clenched her teeth with worry. Was this it, was this how everyone was going to find out Beetlejuice wasn't human. How Claires big mouth would alert her family that the demon was back. That Lydia betrayed what little trust they still had between them. How was she going to explain herself.
Claire seemed unbothered as she walked over to the pair across the room. She turned her phone over to present her screen. The picture she took was of Beetlejuice tensing looking like he was about to dive. Lydia stood in front of him arms held out to try and block him. The same panic on her face. They blinked at the photo, not expecting him to show up on film. Slowly they looked at each other. The same memory running through their head of the spell Lydia had casted on them. Making it possible for him to wonder the world as if he was alive once again.
"Like this one" she swiped, showing them a picture of the two on the sand. Lydia pouting and Beej laughing. She swiped again showing a picture of the two building separate sand castles next to each other as if they were in competition with the other. She swiped passed a bunch of pictures of herself then stopped on the photo of the two tangled up in their sleep. Laying on each other on the floor. The blond laughed as she pulled her phone back.
"Pathetic" she teased, walking to the fridge for something to eat. Again the pair looked at each other a little puzzled. But Beetlejuice shrugged it off. But Lydia didn't. As the doors opened to indicate more people coming in, Lydia took out her phone from her sleeping shorts. She unlocked it to open her camera. Holding it up, she stepped closer tot he demon to test out the result on her own device. He didn't move. Despite not wanting his picture taken. He stood still. Staring at the camera in dull annoyance. The photo appeared on her screen and she stared at it. Marveled that he appeared on mortal technology.
