Chapter 6

Loki POV

He watched her vanish, feeling like his heart was being her ripped from his chest, his expression hurt. How could she not remember him? A thousand memories flooded thru him, spilling out from his eyes on to his cheeks, kissing her, dancing together, laughing her eyes sparkling with mirth, pranking Thor, quiet moments together, gazing at the stars, walking into the gardens, holding her in his arms, gazing at her as she slept, waking up in her warm embrace, her face lighting up just as their eyes met, all of it was gone from her eyes and was replaced with confusion, "Who are you?" the only thing she said to him before she vanished yet again, his fingers barely brushing her hands as he had reached for her to either hold her there or be pulled with her to where ever she was headed to.

He heard Thor groan and get to his feet heavily and he reached out to his brother, "Strange was right, she had no idea who I was." He stammered, trying to keep some semblance of control over his emotions and failing utterly. "Fear not brother, we will fix this." Thor said. "Come let us return to Stark and perhaps he will have another idea as to how to find her." Thor paused as they left the park," Who ever thought that the one creature to finally defeat us in battle would be your wife?!" Thor suddenly roared with laughter, clapping Loki on his shoulder as Loki stared dejectily at where Eloise had stood moments ago. He missed her, his arms ached to hold her again even for a moment, he could still smell her perfume in the air. He stood transfixed on the spot, willing her to reappear, hoping she would appear, laughing saying it was all some big joke gone wrong, she'd smile at him, step into his embrace, put her forehead to his, run her fingers along his chin before lightly kissing him, her big blue eyes begging for forgiveness but try as he might to call her to him, she didn't answer.

Eloise POV

She gasped for air as she reappeared in her New York City apartment. He'd almost managed to get enough of a hold on her to follow her, the spot where his finger had touched her was cold and was slightly tingly. She gently rubbed it. It was then that she looked around and noticed that her apartment was torn apart, like someone had been searching for something and gotten angry when they didn't find what they wanted. Suddenly there was a noise behind her and everything went black.

Loki POV

Loki and Thor had arrived back at Avengers tower this morning to see if Stark had any news, they joined the rest of the Avengers for breakfast while Thor updated Stark on what had happened in London and what Strange had to say, as Loki dejectily picked at what ever midgardian food was in front of him.

"She is gonna turn up and I think we should discuss what we are going to do when we find her, cause letting Reindeer Games and Pointbreak keep going head to head with her isn't going to get us anywhere, shes going to get tired of throwing warning shots." Stark stated, "Maybe we aim for something more stealthy? Sedating her?" Clint Barton suggested. "That's probably the best option but we do have to consider the fetus." Doctor Banner agreed, "Cause she'll likely try to fight back if we simply try to corner her or she'll vanish again." "We'll also have to consider what we do once we have her, we don't have a magic proof cell." Stark added, tossing blue berries in his mouth. "I have handcuffs which should negate her magic." Thor added, Loki's head shot up and he glared at his brother, Thor hastily added, "Just till we can make her see that she has nothing to fear from us brother. We don't need her hurting herself or others." "I don't like it." Loki said, "I don't see many other options to do this safely. " Steve said pointedly to Loki. Pepper poked her head in and gestured to Tony to come outside. "Hold on guys its my better half, yes dear?" Tony joined Pepper outside the room. Loki listened to Pepper half yelling at Tony with a grin on his face. It was nice to see his wasn't the only marriage on the rocks.

Pepper stalked into the room glaring at Thor and Loki, "WHAT DID YOU TWO DO TO HER?" she raised her voice at the two Gods who exchanged looks of confusion. "What are you talking about woman?" Loki hissed back rising to his feet. "Eloise, I just happened to see her in Central Park and she looks like she got the shit kicked out of her! What happened to you guys don't mean her any harm?!" Thor exclaimed, "We didn't even manage to touch Lady Eloise, let alone harm her. " Thor said also rising, calling Mjölnir to his hand.

"Where in the park?" Tony said, "On a park bench, near one of the playgrounds, she had several bruises, a cut across her cheek, maybe a broken nose, and a bandage across her shoulder. " Pepper answered, embarrassed she had jumped to the conclusion that she had. "JARVIS get me satellite footage of her now." Tony said as video feed appeared on the screens in front of them. Loki paced around while the screen zoomed in. Everyone gasped as they took in the damage, as they watched Eloise slowly eating a bagel as if it hurt to even chew, while holding on to a leash that held a grey English bulldog who was lounging beneath her feet. Loki hissed, he would kill who ever had touched her. "Let's go." He started towards the door.

"Hold on, let's think about this. I think this requires a softer touch than you are able to give right now. Steve can you dress down, see if you can approach her and distract her while Barton will take the shot, Thor have those cuffs ready. " they all nodded. Loki hesitated, but as long as they managed to get her to safety, he nodded.

Eloise POV

Everything hurt, especially the stab wound in her shoulder; she thought to herself as she slowly enjoyed her bagel. Reaching down she petted Bilgsnipe's wrinkles, he lifted his head so she could scratch his chin. She smiled, enjoying the sun and the warm breeze and she closed her eyes for a moment, relaxing, Bilgsnipe would let her know if anyone began to approach. About 5 minutes later Bilgsnipe, suddenly got to his feet, Eloise snapped open her eyes to see a tall good looking man walking towards her, in a baseball cap on his head, at first it looked as though he would walk by but then he slowed as he glanced at her face, " Ma'am, are you alright? If he treats you that bad maybe its time to leave him." He said softly meeting her eyes, with understanding eyes as he knelt and held his hand out for Bilgsnipe to sniff, Bilgsnipe gave the young man's hand a sniff and promptly rolled over and offered his belly for rubs.

Eloise chuckled and gave the stranger a smile, "My husband didn't do this," she said softly, "thank you for your concern though, I was attacked by someone else, well several someones." She continued. "Shit, that's rough, do you want to go to the hospital?" Steve asked, concern in his eyes. "No, I'm fine, you should see the other guys." Eloise suddenly smiled even brighter. "Steve Rogers" the young man, extended his hand, "Ellie, nice to know you." She answered, politely shaking his hand. It was then she felt a sharp sting in her right shoulder and she looked over to see a small cylinder, as she yanked it out of her shoulder she felt her vision flicker and begin to go dark as Steve Rogers caught her before she collapsed.

Loki POV

Loki paced next to the van and glanced up as Steve came back thru the bushes carrying Eloise in his arms, her head falling back, he raced over to him and took her from him as Clint appeared behind Steve holding Bilgsnipe's leash and with Bilgsnipe following Eloise and whining up at her, "What is that thing?" Loki said with distaine, "thats a dog, English bulldog I think." Clint answered, "That is a hell hound if I've ever seen one. Typical, she is gone from me a few short months and the first thing she does is befriends a hell hound." Loki groaned to himself as he stepped into the back of the waiting van, delicately holding Eloise to him, as the so called dog sat at his feet and placed his head on Eloise's arm. As they returned to Avengers Tower, Loki carefully inspected every inch he can see of Eloise, a broken nose, a barely healed cut across her cheek, bruises on her neck and both arms, he peeked under her bandage so see what looks like a stab wound, he allowed his magic to begin speeding the healing as he leaves small kisses across her cheek. She let out a small groan as they reach avengers tower and they bring her up to banners lab.

"Should she already be waking up?" Loki asked as he laid her down on a stretcher as Banner and Tony began attaching various things to her, "No she shouldn't. Thor get those cuffs on her!" Banner shouted as Eloise started to wake up.
