chenle was sitting at the table at the dream dorm. he was deep in thought about whether or not he should tell his members about his headspace. he wanted to so badly but he just couldn't bring himself to do it.
he had been having a hard time lately. he loved the two new members but it made him sad because he's only a couple months younger than sungchan, but sungchan was so much taller than him.
he had his head resting against his hand when sungchan walked into the room. the older saw chenle sitting there looking rather sad and made his way over to him.
he sat down next to the younger and started to speak.
"you okay, chenle?" his voice startled the boy.
chenle nodded and tried to stand up but was stopped by two hands gently pulling him back down into the chair.
he was trying so hard to stay big. he was terrified that sungchan would hate him if he found out about his coping mechanisms.
" 'm okay... need w-water.." his attempts to stay big failed and he realized that as soon as he saw the older look at him with a sad smile.
with that, chenle broke down into tears. sungchan's eyes widened as he lifted the little into his arms.
"lele sowwy! channie n-not supposed to know!"
poor chenle was hysterical. sungchan was trying his best to calm the little as he ranted to him about how he had been debating whether or not he should tell the group about his headspace.
the boy continued to cry until he couldn't anymore. he just had so many built up emotions he wasn't even sure what he was feeling or why he was so upset.
he looked at sungchan and rested his head against the older boys chest. all the little wanted was a caregiver. someone to play with, someone to cuddle with, and just someone to watch over him and protect him.
he was feeling something he'd never felt before. he felt safe. sungchans embrace made him feel so small and warm. it was as if he finally found the person he was missing all along.
sungchan looked down at the little who was looking up at him with innocent eyes.
"lele~ do you have a caregiver?" he asked gently, making sure to be careful with his words to avoid upsetting the boy.
chenle shook his head and nuzzled his face into sungchans chest.
"no h-have caregiver..lele wan channie.." he looked at the younger who had a reassuring smile on his face.
"if that's what lele wants then channie would love to be your caregiver."
chenle giggled softly and stood up, leading his new caregiver to his room to show him all his stuff.
the small boy smiled as he lifted his favorite dolphin stuffie up to sungchans face to make sure he could see it.
the older of the two, who now had a stuffed dolphin being shoved in his face, just smiled and pulled his baby into a hug.
"i still have a lot to learn, but i promise i'll try my hardest to be the best caregiver i can possibly be."
