(This chapter takes place during the last chapter; both of these events are happening at the same time)
We split up and start heading towards UNs study. Apparently, that's where they are keeping France. Canada says it's because Reich wants to marry her. I can't imagine what it must feel like to have Reich pestering you to marry him, although I suppose France is used to this behavior. From what I've heard, Reich had fallen in love with her the second he saw her.
We make it to UNs study room. The interior was finely decorated with expensive furniture and intricate designs painted on everything in gold paint. France is sitting next to the window, her eyes glued to the world outside. There are cuffs on her wrists, waist, and ankles keeping her stuck next to the window.
"Maman!" Canada exclaimed, running up to her and hugging her close. France seemed to snap back to reality. She stared at us in disbelief.
"You... you came to rescue me! How has Reich not found you yet? You all could be killed!" France exclaimed, a mix of confusion and fear in her voice.
"I'd rather be killed then sit idly by," I say. I may have come off as a bit intense, but my words were the truth. I had been lied to, betrayed, used against the people I love, and robbed of my powers. I will not just sit by and watch the people who've wronged me grow stronger. France looks at me in surprise, but then nods.
"I suppose you're right," France said. We searched the room and found the key to unlocking her cuffs. While they were freeing her, I noticed a birdcage covered by a white sheet. My curiosity got the better of me, and I looked under the sheet to find a defeated looking eagle. When I lifted the sheet, the eagle noticed me and grew defensive.
"It's ok... I'll free you," I say gently. I don't know why I want to help this random bird. Maybe because it reminds me of Malaysia's bird...
A wave of regret crashed on me. I can't believe I could be fooled by that man... Confederate was it? My friends... I betrayed them out of jealousy... of what exactly? I can barely even remember why I was upset. All I know is that I miss my friends more than anything. I unlocked the birdcage, and the eagle flew out and around the room, before landing on my shoulder. I smile despite the dire circumstances. Once France was freed, we made our way back into the hall.
"Ok, we have to meet the others in the ballroom. Hopefully from their we can-," Kazakhstan started, before being cut off by the shaking ground.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEYVE ESCAPED?" We hear Reich roar.
"We must hurry!" France exclaimed. We began sprinting towards the ballroom. As we were running, we ran into three of UNs former guards. However, they looked different. Their eyes were glowing a dark purple, and their skin looked faded. They saw us, and immediately began to attack. We drew our swords and fought back the best we could. The eagle I had freed flew up to one of the guards and slashed his face with its sharp talons. The eagle then began slashing at the other two guards. While the guards were distracted, we sprinted past them and into the ballroom. When we got there, we saw everyone we knew in chains. Near the main entrance of the ballroom stood Soviet. When we barged in, he stared at us with conflicted eyes, his hands holding tightly onto his scepter.
"Father, please... help us," Kazakhstan pleaded. Soviet just silently stared at us in defeat. It looked as if he was about to make his next move, when suddenly the eagle attacked him and grabbed away his scepter. Just then, Poland and the others rushed into the ballroom. The eagle cawed at them and dropped the scepter into Germany's hands. He stared wide eyed at the scepter, and then at the crowded ballroom. I see America cling onto Germany's arm as they exchange a glance. I see determination grow on Germany's face.
He slammed the scepter into the ground, breaking it. Beams of green light shoot from the scepter, spreading out to many people in the room. I stare in wonder at the scene. Suddenly, my eyes fell to a familiar looking group. Philip, surrounded by all our friends, with his eyes glowing bright yellow. He uses his magic and frees the people around him. I can barely contain my excitement. I sprint over to them and fall into a group hug. We hold each other closely and excitedly tell each other how much we missed each other.
"I'm so sorry... I... I'm...," I say, struggling for words.
"It's ok... we were so worried... we're so glad you're ok...," Malaysia said.
Suddenly, the ground began to shake. We look towards the main entrance, and saw Reich standing there with fury in his eyes.
"I must say... I'm impressed," Reich said. He looked down at the eagle.
"You really managed to gain their trust again, didn't you Confederate?"
