Quinn's POV

Brenton laughs pulling something out of the pocket of his jacket holding them up to me. "Did you forget about this?" He asks handing me two tickets and I suddenly remember our plans. "Tonight is Anthony's country bonfire." I mentally slap myself for completely forgetting this.

"You really going to turn down a night of country music and spending time with your friends?" I look down at the tickets trying to hide how great that sounds right now after everything that has happened. "You told him that you would be there tonight."

I run my hand through my hair nodding my head. "As mush as I would like to go Brenton, I think Anthony and my friends would understand if I didn't show up tonight." I hand him back the tickets feeling guilty of not only breaking my promise to Anthony but also canceling my date with Breton such last minute.

"You have been here for two days straight. I don't think your dad or any of your family would think bad of you for leaving for a night of much needed fun." I look over my dad seeing him talking with Uncle Tevin. "If something happens to him again and I am not here, I don't think I could live with that." Brenton stands up before walking around me and sitting down in the spot where Aunt Penny was sitting.

"You need to stop blaming yourself for things that you can't control." Brenton takes my hand in his and then using his free hand he runs his finger along my bottom lip. "Your dad is surrounded by doctors, nurses, and your family. Let's just go to the party and if anything happens we will come right back." I take a deep breath feeling torn but I guess Brenton does have a point.

"I know you came face to face with that fear we talked about, but the only way to get over any fear is to face it head on." Brenton runs his hands over his dog tags that around my neck. "You are not alone in this, but I also think that you need a distraction Marshmallow." I bury my face in Brenton's chest and inhale his scent. "We can go to the party and have a great time, because sitting here waiting for something to happen is only driving you crazy." I slowly lift my head off his chest and stare into his eyes.

"Trust me." He smiles at me and I nod my head knowing that everything Brenton just said is true and maybe going to the party is just the thing that I need to get myself back to some kind of normal. "Hey dad." I say turning to him and not only getting the attention of my dad but also everyone in the room. "I sort of promised Anthony I would go to his bonfire party tonight, and Brenton already bought the tickets." My dad sits up more in his bed looking at the others before looking back to me.

"I want to know where this party is going to be at, who all is going to be there, and how long you are planning to be there." The biggest smile comes to my lips seeing my dad still go into his overprotective dad mood even in a hospital.

"The party is at Anthony's house, I am not sure of the whole guest list but I do know that Anthony with his girlfriend Amara, Emery is bringing Caily, Chris will be there with Alexa, and Tiffany with Clay will also be there." My dad gives me a look like he doesn't approve of not knowing the complete guest list. "It is some kind of weekend party deal." The beeping on one of the monitor starts picking up faster and faster.

"George your sending your blood pressure through the roof." Etta says as my dad tries to calm down before the nurses rush in here thinking that something is seriously wrong beside my dad stress level going sky high. "If it helps any Sir, I also invited a few of my Marine buddies and their girlfriends." Brenton says wrapping his arms around me from behind. "Please dad, I need to get out of here before I go completely stir crazy." My dad looks over at Etta who gives him a look that I can tell what exactly it means.

"We talked about this George." My dad snaps his head towards Etta. "A whole weekend party is not what we talked about." He lightly snaps at Etta who just looks at her son, "You're hanging on too tight again, and you know what that might lead too." My dad growls for second before closing his eyes and lets out a very deep breath before opening his eyes again and looking at Brenton and me.

"I will allow you to go but only if you promise me that you will call someone in this room every very few hours to let us know you are okay." I stare at my dad knowing that he serious even if he never had Jared do something like that when he went out. "I guess that is fair." I smile and give him a kiss on his cheek.

"I love you dad." I say gently hugging him which he returns. "I love you too pup." I pull out of the hug and wipe off the kissing mark on his cheek left by my lipstick. "I don't want to hear that police had to show up to shut down that party, and you know that I will call my buddies at the station if need be." He says in a stern dad voice and I just nod my head as Brenton hands me my purse.

"I am well aware of that dad." I say goodbye to everyone before Brenton and I head out of the room. "I am proud of you babe." Brenton kisses my lips and I have to say that I feel proud of myself because for once I am not overthinking my choice, I mean for the moment I am not overthinking it.

"You are the one that gave me the courage, and I think that you are right about me needing a distraction." Brenton and I enter the elevator and then head home to get ready for the party. If I knew then what I do know now about what will happen at the party then I would have never left the hospital.
