*Charlie's POV*
I woke up the next morning to a pillow being thrown at the side of my face.
"Get your ass up I'm bored," Owen whined. I groaned loudly and chucked the pillow back at his head. "Why are you so tired? You're like a giant toddler, you have a bedtime,"
He wasn't wrong. Usually I'm asleep by 10 and then up super early to go to the gym or to harass him in his sleep.
"I was up till 4am..." I hesitated as I leaned over to my nightstand and grabbed my phone off of the charger, checking for any texts. "Binge watching Birdie In The Big City," I started to blush as I finished the sentence, waiting for Owens reaction.
"Ooooo," He sang wiggling his eyebrows at me. "Someone's got a crush on Ellaaaa," I rolled my eyes at Owen and got up to go brush my teeth.
"I don't have a crush on Ella, the show was good!" I tried to defend myself but Owen was unconvinced. I had a mouth full of water, rinsing my toothpaste, when I heard my phone ding.
"@Ella.James messaged you on Instagram," Owen said and I spit my toothpaste water all over the sink. I jumped out of the bathroom and reached for my phone, but Owen pulled it away. Curse being 5'8!! I reached up and put Owen in a headlock as he began to read the message.
"Hey Charlie, just wanted to know what time we were doing dinner tonight. Aw and she put a smiley face," Owen cooed as he showed me the smiling emoji with the hearts floating around it. At the sight of her name on my phone I loosened my grip slightly on Owen, causing him to regain the stability to throw me onto the bed. "I didn't know you invited Ella to dinner tonight," He said sitting on the bed next to me.
"Yeah well, I wanted to be nice and I figured she would want to hang out with Kenny," I shrugged my shoulders like it wasn't a big deal.
"You invited a girl to dinner, so that she can hang out with Kenny?" Owen laughed at how stupid it sounded. He picked up his hat off his head and turned it backwards. "Okay, tell Ella her date with Kenny starts at 7:30," He smiled and walked out of the room.
I laid in my bed staring at the message for a solid minute. My fingers hovered above the keyboard but I had no idea what to type. Why was I so weird with Ella? I mean, I know she has beautiful green eyes, her smile makes my heart stop, and her hair looks so soft I want to learn how to braid just so I can braid it; but other than that, I don't understand why I'm acting like this.
"You're an idiot," I whispered out loud to myself and ran my fingers through my hair. Without being able to procrastinate any further, I began to type.
Ella! So we're going to meet at the restaurant at 7:30. Stoked you're coming, see ya there ;)
Before I could over analyze every letter of what I just wrote, I sent the message. A few minutes later my phone dinged in response.
@Ella.James: See ya then Gillespie
I smiled to myself and tossed my phone on the bed next to me. The rest of the day Owen and I just goofed off and watched Friends until it was time to get ready for dinner.
"Dude stop shaking," Owen said as he drove us to the restaurant. I didn't even realize I was bouncing my leg up and down until he said something. I stopped my leg and turned up the music to distract myself. "You know it's okay to be nervous. You don't have to be confident all the time," Owen glanced into the rear view mirror as he merged lanes.
"You're right it is okay to be nervous, I just happen to never be nervous," I smirked at him and he rolled his eyes. When we pulled up to the restaurant I saw Madi and Jer already outside waiting for us. Madi noticed our car and came sprinting towards Owen's car door. He opened the door and got out to hug her.
