Spencer's POV:

I knock on the familiar door, wiping my sweaty hands on my trousers and feeling a lot more nervous than I should. It's been awhile since I've stood in front of this door. It suddenly swings open and Addie greets me, looking as beautiful as ever.

"Hi," she says with a shy smile.

"Hey," I reply, equally shy. My eyes travel down to her outfit: she's wearing white sneakers, fitted jeans that show off her toned legs and a gray pullover sweatshirt. A Caltech sweatshirt. MY Caltech sweatshirt. Addie's eyes follow my gaze down to her clothing and I can see her eyes widen in horror.

"Oh my god, I'm sorry! I... I didn't—" she cuts herself off, making a move to pull it over her head.

"No, no! It's fine, I want you to wear it. It looks better on you anyways," I say, placing a hand on her arm to stop her from trying to take it off. She nods, still looking a little embarrassed.

"Spencie!" I hear a small voice call as Willow comes bounding down the hallway and leaps into my arms. My heart aches at the sound of her voice and the fact that I haven't been able to see her for a month.

"Hey Wills! Jeez, you've gotten so big!" I exclaim, spinning her around as she giggles.

"I missed you!" She pouts, as if scolding me for being away for so long.

"I know, I missed you too. But we're going to have a really fun day today, okay?"

"Willow, why don't you go get some shoes and a coat on?" Addie suggests, sending the little girl sprinting back down the hall and into her room.

"Thank you again for looking after her for a few hours. This was the only time my therapist could squeeze me in and Ms. Harmon is out of town until the end of the week," Addie says.

"I'm happy to help, like I said, you guys are family." I purposely exclude the fact that if she hadn't called, I definitely would be sitting at home catching up on work or bingeing a marathon of Star Trek. "I'm glad you're going to therapy, though, is it helping?"

"It's never really been my thing, but I've been making some progress. Acceptance and moving on and all that I suppose."

"I'm really glad to hear that, I mean it."

"I know you do," she replies, looking down at her feet. "What about you? How have you been coping?"

"Well... I've been okay. I went to a therapist once or twice, nothing serious," I answer awkwardly.

"I know I've been closed off ever since what happened, but please come talk with me if you need to. I haven't wanted to really talk through it, just because it's painful, but I will if you think it will help you get some closure or feel more at peace," Addie whispers, trying to offer a small smile that doesn't quite reach her eyes.

"I would never ask you to do that, but thank you." I grasp her hand lightly and squeeze before letting it go. Willow comes running back toward us, now dressed in proper outerwear.

"Ok Willie, behave for Spencer and don't wander off, remember?"

"Stranger danger," Willow recites, nodding.
