Narrator: After a comfortable few minutes of somewhat cuddling in silence, the two young ninja resume their conversation.
P.o.v. Shikamaru
"Hey, Shikamaru?"
"Hmmmm?" I mumble into Naruto's shoulder.
"I wanna make it up to you for forcing you into that situation. It wasn't fair to you, and I wanna make it right."
I lift and shake my head, indicating he didn't have to do anything for me. His presence in itself was enough to make me happy.
He wouldn't give up though. He persisted until I was forced to listen to him.
I sighed. "Okay. What is it you have in mind?"
"Ask me any one thing. I'll do it to the best of my ability," He says with a toothy closed-eyed grin. He gives me the thumbs up.
A gesture of promise.
I can feel myself go red in the face, and look down to hide it. I don't even know why I'm blushing. Damn you, Uzumaki.
I collect myself and look back up, giving my most winning smile. "Thanks, I'll get back to you on that."
He nods. "It's A promise then."

We sit in silence for a few more minutes, one of us adjusting every so often in attempt to get more comfortable. What hits me is he's still hugging me.
Right as I think this, his grip ever so slightly tightens on me. I withhold a gasp, my eyes flying open. I try not to panic, hoping he won't notice that I've suddenly become A bit off.
I swallow hard. "Na-..Naruto.."
He looks at me in a questioning manner. I struggle to hide my blush.
"C-..Could you l-let go of me now?" I stammer.
His face lights up like a firework, and he quickly releases his hold on me. "S-Sorry about that," he laughs awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. "We should probably go and get the others now," He stands up, offering me his hand.
I admire his extended appendage, wondering if it was even real. I shake off my thoughts, and grab his wrist. He helps me get to my feet.
God, Naruto. What are you doing to me?
"Don't forget that promise, Shikamaru. Any one wish, and I'll grant it," He reminds me.
Something gives my confidence a boost, and I reply with "Oh, I won't be forgetting any time soon," Smirking throughout the sentence.

"Hey Naruto, what happened to the others anyway? Before I came in here, I couldn't find a single person."
"Uh, about that-"
"You're such a drag, Naruto. Poor Neji. The other two deserve whatever you did to them."
