Winter formal, Beacon Hills High School

Alison and Jackson had left to go somewhere not that long after we sat down, and Lydia went to dance with her lacrosse-star-wannabe date. That left Stiles alone at the table with me.

I wasn't nervous because it was just stiles and I - after all we'd been alone together before but this was a high school dance. From what I hear you're meant to go with someone like a boyfriend or a girlfriend and Stiles wasn't either of those. I felt comfortable around Stiles but with the added factor being that we are each other's date at a school dance, for some reason, made me nervous. I don't get nervous.

It got worse when Stiles saw Allison and Jackson join Lydia and jock-boy on the dance floor.

"Wanna dance now?" I looked at him as he sat swivelled in his seat, "I'm good right here." I said, my distaste for dancing was evident yet he didn't stop asking.

"You know what..." I raised a brow at a now standing up Stiles, "Oryn, get off your cute sarcastic ass and dance with me right now." I pressed my lips together to stop a smile from coming to my face, "surprisingly forward approach but still, no..." I tested him and to no surprise he didn't give up.

"Look Ryn, over the time I've known you, you've been full of surprises and honestly it amazes me. I don't care if your Dereks sister and that I have a possibility of getting killed for this, and I don't care that you want to keep up with emotionless and heartless act - I don't care!" I continued to look at him with no emotion, it's like he said but in reality my heart was going 100.

"I know you - okay? I know that you are scarily strong and smart, so independent that half the time when I stand next to you and you're speaking it's like the whole world fades away - I can't take my eyes off you." I closed my eyes to make myself stop staring at him, eventually the smile I was holding back let slip and I stood up, "I still don't know how to dance." I warned him but instead of taking it badly he only flailed around with a ear splitting smile, "I'll teach you."

I grabbed his arm and led him to the dance floor, ignoring the fact that I could feel him giving himself a silent victory behind me. When getting onto the floor I turned round to Stiles and stood ready also slightly panicking - he stood in front of my with a kind smile while telling me to just relax.

Slowly but surely he brought his hand to mine and pulled it up and back so that I was closer to him, while his other hand went to my waist. I took a guess and placed my hand on his shoulder, he took the lead and began swaying us to the song as it had now slowed to a more romantic song.
