"Okay. Well don't expect much, and don't loose your temper, just be calm." I sighed and hung up the phone, I was walking out of school when Derek called me and told me that he was going to try and talk to peter, key word: try. Since peter is unresponsive our luck is at a good 0.5%.

I rounded the corner to hear Mr. Harris yelling people to stop and when I looked onto the scene I stood back so I wasn't seen and watched as Scott - who was lying on the floor all beaten up - was looking at stiles - who was showing the heart rate monitor - and got detention for doing something stupid again. I turned back against my previous steps so I wasn't caught and went the long way round to woods.

I walked back to the house and didn't even bother rushing, it was I nice slow walk back. I walked into the living room while tracing the multiple bullet holds in the wall from a couple nights ago. It was hours before I had to go to stiles' so I decided to get homework out of the way. My phone went off and I realised it was a message from derek telling me to get to the animal clinic and as fast as I could.

When I got there I met Derek outside where had handed me a piece of paper to look at and walked in beside him, "Scott, you're late again. I'm hoping this isn't getting to be a habit." I heard a voice - a voice I remembered - before Derek and I rounded the corner, when we did I saw an older dark skinned man - a man I remembered - dressed in a white lab coat, he looked at us in confusion.

"Not Scott, Sorry." I said, "can I help you?" He asked me, I could tell he recognised me but didn't didn't make it obvious, "I hope so." It was now Dereks time to shine, "we want to know about the animal you found with the spiral on its side?" The man stuttered a bit before replying, "excuse me?" I heard his heart rate pick up a little, "what animal?"

"Three months ago, a deer." I held up the piece of paper and the end of Dereks statement so that the veterinarian saw the picture of the deer. "you remember this?" He asked.

"Oh yes, it's just a deer. And I wasn't the one who found it. They just called me cause they wanted to know if I'd seen anything like it." Derek stepped forward but I remained leaning on the door frame. "What did you tell them?" Derek asked, I listened in on his heart - that was already beating fast due to fear - "I told them no." I heard a blip to signify that he was lying though I didn't say anything. Derek started walking forward more, "did you hear that?" He asked the man.

"Hear what?" The vet asked as he walked the behind the metal table to that there was something in between the two. "The sound of your heartbeat rising." That sentence alone got the man confused, "excuse me?"

"It's the sound of you lying." I chimed in from the doorway, "and that's the sound of the clock hitting six and my alarm telling me to leave, don't do anything I wouldn't do." All I heard was a thump before I let the door close behind me. I hadn't seen Alan Deaton in years, five years to be exact. I wasn't close to him but nonetheless I hoped that Derek wouldn't hurt him too much. Derek assumes he knew something and I had a feeling he did but I'd leave that part to Derek.
