Chapter 3: Broken Trust

School was almost over for the day. Just a few minutes left till 4pm. Kai currently sat next to Yang in Professor Port's Grimm Studies class, who was currently telling yet another tale of his 'dangerous expeditions'. Kai stole a glance over at Yang, once more taking in her features. He had been gathering up the courage to ask her out all day, and it seemed like this would be his last chance to do so. He took a deep breath. 'Okay, here goes...'

Kai: "Hey, Yang" She turned over to look at him with her lilac eyes, "Yeah?". Kai hesitated for about a second before continuing, "So I was thinking that, after this class is over, we could maybe go out and get something to eat...together?". Yang's brows raised in surprise, "You mean like...some kind of a date?"

Kai: "Yeah...exactly like that". Kai watched as Yang's face brightened and then fell immediately. "Uh so...what do you say?"

Yang: "Kai I...I'm sorry but I can't make it. I have...some stuff to take care of..."

Kai: "Oh...I see...what kind of stuff?"

Yang: "I...can't really say". Kai muttered under his breath, "Of course not..." Yang continued, "It's not like I don't want to, I just...can't right now"

Kai: "Yeah...sure, it's fine I guess" Just then the class ended, with Professor Port promising an 'epic conclusion to his tale' in the next class. As Yang got up to leave, she gave one last apologetic look at Kai and said, "I'm really sorry Kai", and with that she left. Kai remained seated, simply staring out into space, till he realized he was the only one left in the class. Well not completely. He walked over to Jaune who was slumped on his table dejectedly.

Kai: "Weiss rejected you again didn't she?". Jaune groaned in reply. Kai sighed and put a comforting hand on his friend's shoulder, "For once, I can understand your pain buddy"

Suddenly the door opened and Sun strolled in and looked around. Upon seeing Kai he called out, "Kai, there you are!. I've been looking all over for you". Kai left Jaune and walked to the front of the classroom, "Hey Sun, what's up?"

Sun: "What's up is the girls are up to something and I want to know what it is"

Kai: "Up to something? What are you talking about?" Sun stared at Kai, confused, "Wait you don't know either? I thought at least you would know about it, that's why I was looking for you". Kai narrowed his eyes, "Know about what, Sun?"

Team RWBY was gathered in their room, preparing to go out into town for their investigation. They all wore different outfits from their normal gear, probably to blend in better with the citizens.

Ruby: "Right, everyone remember their roles?"

Weiss: "You and I will head to the CCT to check the Schnee records for any other dust robberies or inconsistencies. Seeing as I'm in the family it shouldn't be a problem"

Blake: "The White Fang has regular faction meetings to hand out orders and recruit new members. If I can get in, I could hopefully find out what they're planning"

Yang: "I have an old friend on the shady side of town that typically knows everything that goes on in Vale. Getting information from him shouldn't be too hard"

Ruby: "Great we'll meet up tonight near Yang to go over what we found" pumping her fists in the air she exclaimed, "Let's do this!"

Sun: "Yeah!". The group turned to find Sun hanging upside down outside their window. They immediately took a step back in shock.

Yang: "Sun? How'd you get up there?"

Sun: "That's easy. I do it all the time"

Weiss: "You do WHAT?!"
