Chapter 5: Dark Side

School was over for the day, and Kai was trekking back to the dorms accompanied by Team JNPR. It had been 3 days since the showdown against the Atlesian Paladin. Team RWBY was supposed to have a study session so they had gone off to the library, but Kai had seen Ruby pack up her board game along with her textbooks, so chances were they might not really get much actual reading done.

Jaune: "All I'm saying is that it would be nice if we had team combo names. It'll improve our teamwork, I just know it"

Ren: "I'm not really seeing the point. We can still work as a team even if we don't have combo names. Where did you even get that idea?"

Jaune: "From Ruby. She already told me some of their combo names, and they sound awesome! So I just figured, why not Team JNPR?"

Kai: "I've seen them use it first hand, and I think the idea of using code names to execute pre-strategized attacks is pretty good actually"

Pyrrha: "Well I for one am in full support, Jaune"

Jaune: "See Ren, Kai and Pyrrha think it's cool. What about you Nora?"

Nora: "Oh Oh, Ren and I can be Power PANCAKES!"

As Ren slammed a palm to his face, Kai spotted something from the corner of his eye. He turned to look at it fully. It was Team CRDL picking on the rabbit Faunus girl, Velvet Scarlettina. They pulled on her ears, pushed  her around and laughed loudly. Kai growled at the scene. Ever since the events of the Forest of Forever Fall, Cardin had stopped picking on Jaune but he hadn't stopped bullying in general, he just moved on to other targets. And it seemed his favourite target was the timid rabbit girl. The rest of the team noticed that Kai had stopped and they followed his gaze to Cardin.

Jaune: "Ugh, shouldn't Cardin have learnt his lesson by now?"

Pyrrha: "That entire team disgusts me"

Ren: "It's unfortunate that they managed to become students here."

Nora: "Alright let me at 'em". Kai stepped forward towards the scene, but Pyrrha held him back, "Kai, don't do anything rash". Kai shrugged off her hold, "I'm just going to have a word with them", and with that he continued his march towards Team CRDL.

Kai: "Cardin!" Cardin Winchester and the rest of his teammates, Russel Thrush, Dove Bronzewing and Sky Lark, all turned to look at Kai. Cardin's hand was still wrapped around one of Velvet's bunny ears.

Kai: "Let her go". Cardin scoffed and shoved Velvet to the ground, much to the amusement of his teammates who howled in laughter. Velvet tried to get away but Dove grabbed her arm and held her in place.

Cardin: "I always knew you felt high and mighty Kai, but really? Giving me orders?" he burst out laughing, before continuing, "What happens if I don't follow them?". As Kai's eyes glowed, Cardin held out a finger to him, "Uh uh uh, remember, your restraining order still stands even now. You can't touch me."

Kai: "Why do you even do this? Bully people?"

Cardin: "Bully people? Me? We're just having fun with our old friend Velvet. Ain't that right?"He pulled roughly on Velvet's ear causing her to squeal in pain. Kai growled.

Kai: "I'm warning you Cardin. Touch her again and you're dead"

cardin: "Well touch me and you're on the next airship out of this school!", he then grabbed Velvet by the ears and flung her, sending her flying a few feet forward before landing on her back.

Cardin: "Hey who knew rabbits could fl..."Cardin never got to finish his sentence. A flaming fist slammed into his nose, sending him crashing to the ground. Cardin held his nose in pain, then screamed in anger, "That's it! Get him!"
