Henry's POV:
Charles, Ellie, and I had been invited to a friends Christmas party. Over all, it was a pretty normal party, music, ugly sweaters, snacks, drinking, the basics. Yet, I had a little something else planned for the night. Almost immediately, when we had first arrived, I noticed a mistletoe above a doorway into the kitchen.
Ever since I spotted the plant, I hadn't gotten a certain person off my mind, and how badly I wanted to catch him underneath it. I'd have given anything in that moment to just get Charles in that doorway with me.
Yet, I just barely seemed to miss him every time he'd walk through there. Or, I'd be too nervous to mention it to him when we were both standing there. I was really beginning to get agitated with myself, unable to figure out why I couldn't just drag him to the mistletoe and kiss the man.
Needing to get some fresh air, I stepped outside and into the snow, leaning against the side of the house. I pulled out my phone and checked social media, scrolling aimlessly until I heard the snow beside me crunch. Thankfully, it was just Ellie. She tilted her head as she also leaned against the wall, questioning me.
"Why are you out here?"
It took me a moment to respond, trying to think of the best way to explain what was on my mind. As far as I knew, Ellie didn't know about my massive crush on Charles. Or at least, that's what I thought.
H-"I'm trying to get Charles under the mistletoe but every time I either miss him or I wimp out."
E-"It's about time you made a move, it's been what, four years now? Just grab him and drag him to the plant."
H-"That's the thing, I don't know if he'll accept it or not. I know that he likes guys, but I'm not sure if he likes me."
Ellie glared at me for a moment, shaking her head. I gave her a confused look, silently asking why she had that expression.
E-"Are you dumb or are you stupid? He obviously likes you back and is very open about it. Why else would he always wink at you, rub your back, flirt and compliment you every chance he gets? Hell, you two have even slept snuggled up together before."
H-"I don't know...I guess I just figured that's what friends do?"
E-"More like that's what couples do. Don't be scared, Henry. Just go in there and do it, it'll be okay."
After a few seconds of consideration, I took a deep breath, nodding before heading back inside. Ellie followed, immediately separating when we entered the house. I began my search for the pilot, fidgeting with a bracelet on my wrist as I walked around.
Charles had actually given me the bracelet about three years ago, he said it was rose quartz, amber, and garnet, whatever those three stones meant. Ellie told me that they had to do with romance and love, but I wasn't sure. All I knew was that every time I wore it, I thought of Charles, which made me happier than almost anything else.
I soon found the exact man I was thinking about, curious as to why he had been in the back of the house completely alone. Walking up to the brunette, I placed an arm around his shoulders, blushing lightly when he leaned his head into my shoulder.
H-"Why are you all alone back here?"
C-"My social battery kinda ran out, I was just feeling a little nervous so I came back here."
H-"Want me to go get you some water or something? Maybe some cookies?"
C-"Yeah, that'd be nice actually. Thank you, Hen."
I smiled at the nickname, leaving the room to grab some water and cookies from the kitchen. While in there, I made sure to snatch the mistletoe off of the doorframe, stuffing the plant into my pocket. The last thing I wanted to do was bring Charles back out into the main area with everyone, knowing that his anxiety had sparked up. So, I just decided to bring the mistletoe to him.
Once I had everything, I made my way past all the people, entering the room my best friend was in. He had sat down on the floor, just looking around at his surroundings. Yet, as soon as I came back in, his expression lit up, smiling that bright grin that I loved so much.
After I handed the pilot the water and cookies, I turned around and locked the door to prevent anyone from coming in and bothering the two of us. Nervously, I sat down beside the brunette, watching as he ate the food in front of him.
Reaching into my pocket, I gently gripped the top of the plant, not pulling it out just yet. Instead, I sparked up conversation, trying to calm myself down before doing anything.
H-"So, have you ever been kissed under a mistletoe?"
C-"Unfortunately no. I always wanted to though! I love the cheesy, cliche stuff like that. But, I've never had a lot of special kisses. Never had a new year's kiss, never had a mistletoe kiss, I've never even had a kiss on Valentine's Day!"
His response surprised me, silencing my words for a moment. How had no one given him those things before? It almost made me angry. Charles was so sweet, considerate, funny, and downright hot. It was a mystery why he was still single in the first place.
Deciding to not wait any longer, I pulled out the mistletoe, holding it above our heads. I gave the pilot a sheepish grin, hoping that he'd accept the offer. The brunette looked up and stared at it for a moment, a huge smile slowly making its way onto his face.
Quickly, and without hesitation, Charles looked back to my face, cupping my cheeks with both hands as he crashed his lips onto mine, causing me to drop the plant. Once I fully processed the action, I kissed him back passionately, wrapping my arms around his waist.
Once the two of us ran out of air, we pulled back, our lips a little bit pink from the kiss. I brushed his brunette hair out of the way, noticing a small bit had been hanging down in his face. In a soft tone, I stated to the pilot,
"I'll give you kisses whenever you want. On New Years, on valentines, absolutely any time."
