Stevie left Lindsey's apartment in the early hours of the morning. She lingered in the doorway for a minute, just taking the sight of him in, still asleep, lying on his front, the covers pulled up to his middle. They hadn't exchanged phone numbers, not even their last names. They weren't going to see each other again and Stevie was okay with that.

More than anything else, Stevie wished to be at home, soaking in a bathtub. Instead, she had just arrived at Lauren's, who was one of her best friends for many years. It was Lauren's idea to meet up every two weeks for breakfast and a chat. All of their lives were busy, spontaneous outings were no longer a thing - a time and a place had to be set up each time.

"You look tired." Lauren said, placing a cup of coffee in front of Stevie.

"I didn't sleep very well." That was not a lie. "Thank you." She gave a small smile, picking up the hot drink. "I need this."

"I'm surprised, Jane's the one, who's running late." Lauren teased, smirking. "And I've got so much to tell you!"

"About that guy, you've been seeing?"

"Maybe..." Lauren trailed off, sipping her coffee.

The doorbell rang and Lauren jumped to her feet. She pulled  the door open and squealed, giving Jane a big hug. The noise was giving Stevie a headache, but she forced a smile, when the two women returned.

"Hey!" Jane approached Stevie, kissing her on each cheek. "So, how did your night go?"

Lauren moved to take out a plate from one of the cupboards' for baked goods that Jane had brought with her.

"Uh, it went fine." Stevie replied with a shrug of her shoulders.

"Just fine? Did you go home with that guy?" Jane frowned, catching Lauren's attention.

"What guy? What happened, Stevie?" She asked, biting into a croissant. "Did you have sex with some hot stud?"

"What, no!" Stevie shook her head, but a smile broke through. "Okay, yes. Yes, I did. I had the best sex of my life."

"She slept with a stranger!" Jane grabbed Lauren's hand as they both giggled like some schoolgirls. "How long, you know..."

"No, I'm not going there." Stevie held up her hands, indicating the other two should back off. "All I'm going to say is that, he's an expert, whether he's using his hands, his dick or his tongue."

The bluntness made Lauren gasp and Jane burst out laughing. "My God, I wish he had bought me that drink."

"So, when are you going to see him again?" Lauren asked.

"I'm not." Stevie shrugged. "We agreed that it was a one time thing. I don't even know his last name."

"Are you insane?" Jane stared at her wide eyed. "Stevie, come on-"

"No." Stevie interrupted. "I'm not looking for a relationship. If we're ever going to bump into each other, we'll maybe have another steamy night together, but I don't see this turning into something serious. It's not what I want, it's not what he wants. He told me, two strangers, no strings attached."

"It's like you hate all men." Lauren scoffed, rolling her eyes. "You got your heart broken once and that's it?"

"Well, when someone leaves you at the altar, Lauren, yeah, it kind of makes you dislike all male species."

"Ugh, bummer." Jane sighed, then turned to Lauren. "Your turn. Who's this guy that you're hiding from us?"

"I'm not hiding him." Lauren shook her head. "I just want to make sure that what we have is real, you know. We've been going out for a couple of months now and things have been great. He's gorgeous and he's really sweet. Unfortunately, unlike Stevie here, I can't say the sex is the best I've ever had, because we haven't slept together yet."

"Excuse me?" Jane frowned.

"He says, there's no rush."

Stevie and Jane exchanged a look. "Aren't you afraid he's getting it from somewhere else? What man doesn't want to get you naked immediately?"

"Well, like I said, he's very sweet, he's such a gentleman." It was easy to see that Lauren was completely infatuated by the man in question.

"When are we going to meet him?" Stevie asked.

"Hopefully, soon. I can't wait for you to get to know him. Maybe, I'll invite you to dinner some night next week."

"Can we at least see a picture?" Jane spoke up, already intrigued.

"Sure." Lauren nodded and went to get her phone. A couple of taps of her finger, she turned her phone towards Jane and Stevie.

Stevie leaned in to look and she felt her heart stop for a second. She felt like she was going to be sick.
