For the first time in my life, I was standing in Diagon Alley. I was completely overwhelmed by the different shops and magicians that were there. It was very different from France, where there were more boutiques than shops where you could actually buy magical items.
I was there to get my books and a cauldron that I would need for my third year at Hogwarts. Unfortunately, I had to leave the other wizarding schools I had attended before.
Since my parents didn't have time to go to Diagon Alley with me to get my school supplies, I went there with my Aunt Sarah. My parents didn't have much time for me and my brother because of their jobs, as they were away a lot and often for a long time, which is why we mainly grew up with my aunt. She was my mother's sister and a Muggle. My mum was the only witch in her family and could therefore consider herself quite lucky. Sarah was sometimes jealous of that, but most of the time she was just curious about what the wizarding world had to offer. So she was very excited when she was allowed to come to Diagon Alley with me today.
After all, Muggles were not allowed or rather could not go there without a wizard or a witch, even if they knew about the magical world. She had been talking all day about how we were going to buy all the sweets we could get our hands on. She was just crazy about the magical snacks even if some of them were really gross, Aunt Sarah loved them.
"Ok Anna, I have a plan for today. You go ahead and get as many things from your list as you can and I'll look for shops where we can get sweets or cool magic stuff. You can find your way around on your own, can't you?" she babbled and disappeared into one of the winding alleys while she was still talking. Accordingly, I assumed that her last question had to be rhetorical, since she didn't even wait for an answer from me. But who could blame her? I would also rather go and buy sweets than books and a boring cauldron.
So I strolled off and saw the words >Potages Kettle Shop< above a shop window, went in and quickly found what I was looking for. In my mind I ticked the kettle off my shopping list and now I was looking for a bookshop.
After walking through various alleys for quite a while, I regretted buying the cauldron straight away as first thing, because it was getting incredibly heavy as time went on. Why did I have to buy this heavy metal bucket first, just because I saw the shop first?, I thought to myself and regretted my decision. I should think more often before I act, but that had never worked out very well for me. So much for learning from mistakes.
Already annoyed by the many confusing alleys - I was firmly convinced that I must have walked in circles ten times already - I finally spotted a shop with books. Flourish & Blotts was written on the sign.
As I entered the shop, I immediately went in search of the many different books I would need for my classes at Hogwarts. As I piled the books on my cauldron and balanced them around the shop, I couldn't help but notice that the school had obviously picked out the thickest and heaviest books for lessons that you could possibly buy.
I was just putting the last book on my pile and was on my way to the checkout when I was jostled. All the books I had just painstakingly gathered fell to the floor and my new cauldron landed on my foot, of course. Where else?
A short pain jerked through my body and I groaned in pain as the person who bumped into me spat at me. "Watch where you're going! Don't you have eyes in your head or something?"
"You want me to watch out? You bumped into me, you watch it!", I yelled back annoyed and rolled my eyes. I've always been - how shall I put it - quite temperamental and easily irritated. I got angry because I was wrongly accused and because of this arrogant idiot my foot was extremely in pain. Because of this, I even had a few tears in my eyes but I tried to hold them back.
When I turned to my attacker, I saw a boy with blond - no, platinum blond - hair looking down at me triumphantly with a smug grin. I would have loved to wipe that stupid grin off his face.
"You think you're better than me or something?", I hissed at him. He obviously hadn't expected me to throw something like that at him.
"You don't know who you're talking to here, do you? I'm Malfoy. Draco Malfoy. Pick up your stupid books and get out of here, you crybaby." he snorted, behind him two guys even taller than him but beefy and not so slim nodded in agreement and laughed.
Before he finally disappeared, he looked piercingly with his grey eyes into my blue ones. His gaze was so cold that I got goose bumps all over my body and had to swallow hard. I wasn't usually intimidated so easily, but there was something about this Draco Malfoy that made my blood run cold.
When he was gone, I looked at the chaos that had arisen. The books laid partly open partly closed on the floor. Some pages were crumpled and some even torn. Great start. If I hadn't had to change that stupid school, this would never have happened, I thought to myself as I picked up the books and my new kettle. After paying for everything, I walked out of the shop as fast as I could.
I hope I never have to see that asshole again, I thought all the time and went in search of my aunt, but god was I wrong.
A/N: I know the beginning of the story is not the best but I'm still learning to write and it will get better, I promise!
I hope you will like the story. If you have any ideas for the plot, feel free to leave them as comments here. If it fits into my story, I will try to add it. :)
