Sirius Black and Gracie Burgess Hogwarts' favourite couple and longest lasting. The two had been together since their second year and were now in the middle of their sixth. However arguments between the two lovebirds were a common occurrence ever since their fourth year. Which is why on the bitter spring evening of April 16th 1977 no one payed attention to the couple who were yelling at each other in the middle the common room and instead focused on their own business.
"You're being ridiculous!" shouted Sirius fed up with arguing with the girl.
"Oh I'm being ridiculous?" she laughed humourlessly "I apologise for being a tad annoyed that my boyfriend was flirting with another girl!"
"Please I'd hardly call it flirting" he scoffed
Gracie gave him a look of disbelief. "Are you joking?" she asked rhetorically "Please tell me you're joking"
"Why would I be joking?" he snorted
"So if I went and sat on some random boys lap letting him hold my waist and shit you wouldn't be pissed no?"
"Of course I would!" he exclaimed "What kind of question is that?"
"Well thats exactly what you were doing with that girl!" she exclaimed "Letting her sit all over you. You're making me look like a mug Sirius and I'm sick of it!"
"You're overreacting! This is all you ever do, you get pissed at every little fucking thing and start a bloody argument over it, I'm sick to death of listening to your whining!"
Gracie gave him a look of disbelief trying to hide the hurt in her eyes as she calculated her decisions in her mind anger taking over her words.
"I am so done with you!" she exclaimed in pure rage as adrenaline and anger coursed through her veins.
"Then leave!" retaliated the boy equally as angry growing tired of arguing with Gracie. Their arguments were damaging their relationship and they were becoming toxic, he couldn't stand the thought of losing the girl and so he tried to settle the argument as the room fell quiet again. But Gracie held an angry and calculating look in her eyes as she decided on her answer to Sirius' instruction.
"Fine!" she exclaimed "I will! But this is it. For good. We're over."
Upon hearing these words several shocked faces appeared across the common room people shifting their focus from whatever they were doing onto the couples argument. Of course the two breaking up was a common occurrence but no one had ever heard either of them declare their relationship as really over, ending it for...well..forever. It seemed impossible in everyones minds, they had grown so used to seeing the couple together that the idea of them breaking up for good seemed foreign to them. Hogwarts just wouldn't be Hogwarts without the two together.
Sirius' expression softened his heart becoming heavy as he looked at his girlfriend of four years. "What?"
"This is it. We're done, forever" she said with a tone of finality that almost made Sirius believe her. Almost.
