When one dreams of a positive part of their past, they seek the energy and emotions they felt during that time. The lack of positive emotions leaves them longing for it again, which is why the brain creates a dream from that time to feel less and less pain.
If [y/n] could, she would go back to when it all started and fix things where it began.
six years ago
They met in their first year of high school back at Karasuno. He was in class 1-4, a college preparatory class, while she happened to also be in it, sitting only a few seats away from him.
For more than half of the year, they took no interest in one another, finding both to have no eye-catching qualities. He was busy with volleyball while she was focused on herself and her closest friend, Kageyama.
Yeah, maybe they spoke a few times, but it wasn't enough to spark a fire between the two.
Not until she met him at one of his volleyball games.
"[y/n]! Where the hell are you?!" Her best friend at the time, Izumi, screamed into the phone, nearly blowing [y/n]'s eardrums that vibrated painfully. "You're missing the best part!!"
"Cool." The [h/c] female shot back blankly, walking down the hall with her eyes on the vending machine at the end of the corridor.
Izumi let out a dramatic gasp before going off again, "WHY DONT YOU SOUND EXCITED?! THIS IS BIG FOR OUR SCHOOL! IT'S KARASUNO VERSUS SHIRATORIZAWA! THIS IS HUGE!"
[y/n] pulled the phone away from her ear, a dreadful expression sitting on her features. When Izumi's shouting died down, [y/n] placed the phone flush against her ear. "I don't know if you know this, but I kinda..don't care."
Izumi wanted to scream. "You say that every time!! Why do you even come to the games then?!" The girl whined.
"Because you're annoying and won't stop bothering me until I agree. Plus it's easier to go home with Tobi this way." [y/n] pointed out with a laugh, her slender finger pressing the button the vending machine to get a juice box. "Anyway, I'll come back inside after I finish my juice."
"Juice again?! I told that it's bad for your tee-" [y/n] hung up, not wanting to hear another lecture about the negative effects of juice on your teeth. Izumi wanted to be a dentist hygienist in the future, which explained her passion for good teeth care.
Turning on her heels, [y/n] made her way down the hall with the juice box in hand. As she turned the corner, she felt a smaller body bump into her legs, ricocheting off of her like they were nothing.
Upon seeing the small child on the floor, she gasped and bent down. "Are you okay, buddy? I didn't see you there. Sorry!"
The tiny boy's eyes began to brim with tears when he laid eyes on the scrap on his knee that was bleeding more than it should've. "I-It hurts.."
Frowning, she looked around for the boy's mother then back at him. The way his tears began to fall made her panic. "U-Uh, come, I'll take you to get a bandaid. Can I pick you up?"
When he nodded, she reached over and picked the boy up, carrying him bridal style to prevent getting blood from his knees on her clothes. With ease, she carried the boy down the hall into the small nurse's office that was mostly reserved for volleyball players.
"I need a bandaid for this kid." [y/n] stated, completely missing the heavy atmosphere within the small room. Her eyes fell on the other people in the room, recognizing two of them from her school.
