Shifting [Kylo Ren x Reader]

3- Starting Point

Hearing Kylo say he'd seen you before made your hands go limp around his hand that was still around your neck. The glare of the fluorescent lights on his mask made it hard to see the man behind it and his breathing was labored- he was angry. You wanted to ask what he meant when he said he'd seen you before, but when you opened your mouth to speak a loud ringing sounded from around you. You looked around you to find the source and from your peripherals you could see Kylo doing the same. The ringing got louder and louder, until you had to put your hands over your ears to muffle it. You felt Kylo let go of your neck and without his support you felt yourself falling. You closed your eyes to get ready for your knees to hit the hard flooring, but it never came. Instead, when you opened your eyes you were back in your dark bedroom with your alarm clock ringing on the nightstand.

"Are you kidding me!?" Anger poured its way through you. Why couldn't you have more time? What did he mean he'd seen you before? Why could you still smell him? Questions filled your mind with no answers coming to relieve them.

Sighing, you got out of bed to get ready for work. The daydreams were starting to bleed into your sleep, it can't keep happening. It felt so read, having his hand around your throat. But even with that, you knew there's no way it could be real. Kylo Ren is not a real man, he did not touch you, and he did not know who you were.

Determined to put Kylo in the back of your mind, you felt confident as you walked through the office lobby. You stopped to turn around when you heard heels clicking behind you, seeing Anna fast walk to try and catch up with you. When she saw that you were waiting for her, she said your name with a smile.
"Thank goodness you're waiting for me." She stopped in front of you, coat draped around one arm and a purse dangling from the other. "How was your night?"

"It was just okay, honestly." You shrugged, not wanting to delve back into your dream so soon.

"Same. Hey, I actually have a question and feel free to say no." She started, grinning at you. You held your breath, waiting for her to continue. "I'm kind of seeing this guy and he wanted to go out this weekend, but he forgot he had plans with his brother..." You bit your lip, already knowing where this was going.

"Anna..." You sighed. "Last time I went out with a guy I didn't know I was left severely disappointed." Anna giggled, remembering the conversation from the diner yesterday.

"Okay I'll make a deal with you. If you find yourself unsatisfied after two hours, I'll make up an excuse and we can leave." She wiggled her eyebrows at you. You found it hard to say no, so you ended up shaking your head and laughing at her.

"Fine." Anna squealed in excitement and wrapped her arms around you. You brought your shoulders up to your ears and gave her an awkward smile. You'd never really been a hugger but even though it made you uncomfortable you still allowed people to hug you. It felt inappropriate to ask people not to hug you, so you just dealt with it.

Anna eventually gave you one last squeeze and let go with a huge smile on her face. "You won't regret it, I promise. Let me show you a picture of them!!" She walked you to your office and showed you pictures of the men you'd be going out with on Friday. When you walked in, you saw Trey already sitting in one of your guest chairs waiting for you to arrive.

"About time you got here" He said. "I had the weirdest dream last night and I want to talk about it." He put his feet up against your desk as you sat down, and you glared at him.

"Take a number, goofball. I wanna show her who she's going on a date with this weekend." Anna glared. Trey looked up at you in interest. You shrugged and looked to Anna to show you the men she was talking about.
