Friday after work you went home to get ready for the double date you regretfully agreed to. You hadn't seen Kylo since you went dress shopping and you were incredibly confused. How is he able to just come and go? What did he mean he'd seen you before? Was this honestly real?
It was currently 5:30pm and you had until 8pm to get ready. You decided to spend a little bit of time online, looking up if someone had ever gone through something similar before. The first videos that showed up were TikToks of people talking about shifting realities in their dreams. While this was close to what you were experiencing, it wasn't completely accurate.
The shifting TikToks were typically about what people experienced while they were sleeping. You hadn't seen any that people experienced while they were awake. You backed out of that and continued to search. After another half hour you shut your laptop with a sigh, not finding anything. There were some smaller conspiracy theory sites mentioning that they thought they could use the Force, or people thinking they'd seen some of the Star Wars characters briefly. But nobody had ever had actual, real life encounters with them.
While you decided to get ready for your date, you kept your mind on the way Kylo had acted the last two times you'd seen him. He seemed so upset and you weren't entirely sure why. With all the questions in your head, you tried to just think about something else. You turned on some music and buzzed through getting ready. By the time you were done it was 7:30PM and you decided to leave and meet the others.
You pulled up to the restaurant around 7:56PM, which gave you plenty of time to fix up your hair, making sure it had the right amount of fluff. When you walked up to the table, you saw that the three of them were already sitting with menus before them as they chatted together. You stayed at the front of the restaurant for a second longer trying to prepare yourself when a waiter walked by with a tray of drinks.
Gripping his arm softly, you pointed towards the table and said, "You see that table over there?" He nodded his head. "I need you to bring me a glass of wine. And when you see my glass empty, I'd like it if you could continue to fill my glass." The waiter nodded his head once more and walked in the direction of what you assumed would be the bar.
You took a deep breath and smoothed the front of your dress as you walked towards the table. Anna looked up from her menu and smiled, waving you over. You smiled at her and met Brett's wide eyes as he took you in from your hair to your heels with a surprised grin on his face. When you reached the table, he stood up to greet you with a hug.
"I didn't know it was you I was meeting tonight!" He nearly shouted. "Listen; I'm sorry I haven't called babygirl. I'm just so busy, you know?" He looked at you with pity in his eyes as his hand rubbed up and down your arm. You nodded and smiled back at him, taking your seat between him and Anna.
"So! I'm glad you guys know each other." Anna mentioned, taking a sip of her wine. "This is my date." She put her hand in her date's and introduced him to you. As the introductions continued, the waiter from before brought you a glass of wine and set it down before you with a nervous smile. You smiled back at him as a thank you and took a big gulp. The waiter asked what everyone wanted to eat and as the group placed their orders, you felt the fuzziness in your head begin to cloud your being. The voices that were right beside you began to fade, and you tried to look around your surroundings to see If anyone else felt this way. When you looked up, nobody else looked like they were affected at all.
Once again, the black mass passed by in your peripherals and disappeared before you could catch them. You took a deep breath and focused on your wine, trying to get rid of the fullness in your head. Taking another drink did nothing to clear away the fog, it only caused you to run out of your liquid courage. Within minutes the waiter, who you found out was named Alan, was back and refilling your wine glass. Alan also brought with him a glass of ice water, you figured it was his way of getting you to pace yourself.
