6:20 a.m - Sitting on the cliff for about twenty minutes, she thought about what had happened just eight hours ago.

She had arrived home from work, right at ten. What she thought was going to happen, she was going to go inside, grab the things that she had packed during the week that her piece of shit uncle was sitting in a jail cell and then leave.

But what ended up happening was, he was passed out drunk on the couch, re-runs of Law and Order playing on the TV. She was in shock, not expecting him to be home until the day after. But shit, she was wrong.

Quietly, she made her way up to her room, grabbed the two duffel bags that were full of clothes, a drawstring bag that had money and snacks and finally the backpack that held all her bathroom essentials. Calling the cab service, she was told her cab would be there in five minutes.

The brunette made her way downstairs, and out the front door without the man drunk off his ass, noticing.

Making her way through the bus station, she found the bus and sat down in the very back.

"I did it, I finally did it," she whispered to herself, content that she was finally leaving.

6:25 a.m - Having been on the bus for two hours the whole trip being four and a half hours, just to get to Alamere Falls from Sacramento, Rebecca was exhausted. It had been a year since the accident. A year since everything in her life changed forever. Mentally and emotionally, the girl was drained.

Her cell phone, that she had forgotten to leave, kept ringing. Her uncle was calling, demanding her to come home. but she wasn't.

The 20 year old threw her cell phone into the water just as she go to Alamere Falls.

        Why couldn't I have a normal life?

Why did they have to die and not me?

        Nothing made sense.

Maybe I should die, she thought to herself, getting up and standing at the edge of the cliff. It was so far down and the water was bashing against the rocks.

She had nothing.

Her parents, married for thirty years died instantly, just one year ago in a car accident caused by a sleep deprived truck driver, hitting them head on.

Her sister, her younger sister who had just turned sixteen two days before was alive for about ten hours until her body gave out.

        Rebecca?

Well, she got the least amount of impact, suffered a broken leg, severed lung and a fractured collarbone, other than that, she was fine. She never understood why she couldn't die. She didn't have friends. She didn't have anyone that would miss her. Her parents had tons of friends from both childhood and work, her sister was popular at school. Everyone gravitated towards them but no one seemed to with her.

6:30 a.m - She takes a deep breath and looks up at the sky. Smiling as she sees the sun peeking from behind the dark and rosy clouds.

"See you soon," she said to the sky, knowing that the beautiful clouds and the stars that were slowly disappearing from sight, were her parents and sister. She was ready.

        She wanted her family.

She wanted to belong to something. She wanted to feel something again.

        She had no one.

No one was going to miss her.

Not the fake people that she thought were her friends, that ended up just being assholes.

Not her uncle, who would beat her, touched her and tortured her every single day because he was angry at himself for not making amends with his sister and because he had been put on a force leave from the military due to his drinking and anger issues.

Not even the guy that claimed to love her, but ended up sleeping with some bimbo cheerleader.

No one cared about her. she was nothing.

Just as she was about to take a step, someone wrapped their arms around her and pulled her back. Confused, they both staggered backwards.

The person groaned at the same time that Rebecca cursed under her breath from the hardness of the person's chest.

Getting up quickly, she turned to ask the person why, but stopped when she saw his face.

His jawline was cut and smooth. his green grey eyes were filled with concern and worry, also were looking at her with such intensity. Slightly curly chocolate brown hair was styled in the popular quiff, his lips were opening and closing, as if he was talking.

The entire time that she was looking at the stranger, she didn't understand that he was talking to her, asking her if she was alright and why would she do that.

"Are you even paying attention?! Like I'm honestly and truly worried about you right now," he said, finally snapping Rebecca out of her trance.

"Sorry. I just....I..." she couldn't talk. She was sad and angry and confused. Quickly getting up, he wrapped his arms around the girl as she cried. He was in shock himself. He didn't do the affection thing with just anyone. He wasn't even that much into hugging and things like that and yet he was hugging a complete stranger. But something... something told him to stay and help her. Something deep inside him said that she belonged in his life, he didn't know how but he knew.

"It's alright. I'm here. What's your name?" He asked, rubbing small circles in her back.

"Rebecca Marie." She replied, her face stuffed in his chest. She liked his warmth. He wasn't too muscular and he smelled like Axe body wash.

His arms feel perfect. She thought to herself. Mentally she stiffened. She didn't know him and she felt as if she had known him for years.

"Well, Rebecca Marie. I'm Jace Elliot and right now it's 6:31 a.m , which is when the sun rose and when new and better things are going to happen....to both of us."

Author's note:

First chapter has been edited, small details added and still kinda short for the first one.

Editing is gonna be taking a while since I want the series to be perfect. Please be patient with me. Inkitt isn't happening for a while by the way. I like Wattpad a lot and I love how far the series has come since I started this about 4 years ago.

Anyways, chapters won't be taken down!
