Darkness blasted out of the tree surrounding Maria and Robin. Maria took a deep breath and forced light to seep out of her body. Robin moved next to her and Maria launched the light straight through the darkness. The dark mass let out a shriek of agony and rage.

Maria closed her eyes and focused the light on the spot of darkness by the dark pearl. Robin was crouched on the ground, eyes narrowed against the glare. Maria navigated her light to start corralling the darkness as it had to so many others. Her body shook with the raw power and energy that coursed through her veins like blood. She was gasping and her eyes were narrowed in sheer rage and hate for what had disturbed her hard earned peace and hurt her family.

Images of Robin, Digweed, Periwinkle, Henry, Prince, Princess, Henry’s horse and that poor deer flashed through her mind, as well as an image of the fourth Moon Princess collapsing to the ground, dead. Power surged through Maria’s body.

She let out a cry of rage and the light poured from her body. The light was like glowing mist and the darkness was like thick dark fog. The two powers were opposite. Two opposing forces. Dark and light. But the light was stronger.

Robin stared at the scene before him. The two entities seemed to be locked in a dance. A dance of death. Maria was controlling the battle at the moment. He light was corralling the darkness away from them. As she pushed it closer to the tree the darkness began struggling furiously.

Good. Thought Robin. Now it knows how we felt!

Maria was growing annoyed. The power coursing through her body was now accompanied by a fierce and protective love for her family. Power love and rage wove together, urging the light onwards. She ignored the fact that she was beginning to feel pain.

Maria’s pale auburn hair blew wildly in the wind created by the power and her eyes flashed with fierce determination. But despite her efforts the darkness seemed to have formed a solid barrier around the secret hollow in the tree.

Maria was beginning to tire slightly. Robin stood up but his eyes were still narrowed. Maria had almost gotten the darkness completely corralled. Sweat beaded on her forehead and her hands trembled slightly. Her eyes still blazed with fiery, stubborn determination.

The darkness swirled around the tree violently. It tried breaking through the light but simply bounced off. Robin’s eyes suddenly widened. Something was wrong.

The darkest section of the darkness seemed to be weaving around the trees trunk and up. Before Robin could utter a warning the darkness flew down the tree and cut through the light like butter. It was heading towards Maria at high speed. From that point on time seemed to slow as did everything around them.

Maria saw the darkness and her eyes widened with terror.

“Nooooooooo! Maria!” Robin cried. He threw himself in front of her, his mind screaming. No! I can’t go through this again! The darkness slammed into his body like a freight train. He gasped in agony.

“Robin!” Maria cried. Robin fell to the ground, gasping for breath. The time is right. I have to tell her. He thought.

Maria’s light beat the darkness back again as Maria crouched down holding onto Robin.

“Robin…no, no, no!” She gasped, starting to cry. Robin was shivering. He reached up and placed one of his hands on her cheek.

“Maria…I…” Suddenly the darkness escaped and slammed into his body again, knocking Maria away. With a grunt of agony his hand fell from her cheek and his eyes closed, a single tear falling down his pale olive cheek. Maria crawled forwards again.

“Robin? Robin…Robin!” Maria cried. Tears streamed down her face. Anguish savaged her heart and it hurt, bad. Would she never feel his arms around her again? Or smell his deep warm woodsy musk? Or be called Princess? Being tears? Fill her locket with his picture so her heart was complete? Tell Robin she loved him? No. Robin De Noir was dead. All those thoughts flew about in her head and her body tensed. Power surged in unbreakable cycles through her body. Love caused all of this. Her love. Robin’s love. Their love. And it was about to be unleashed.

[Yeah. I know that was intense. I'm sorry I killed him... :'(
