This is a rewrite of 1x16 soooo yeah :)

After Hope got to the building where Malivore was being held she found Landon fighting a headless horseman. She saves the artifact from falling in, putting it on a window seal. She runs to the monster trying to stop it from getting to the artifact. Landon rambles off how the headless horseman usually dies so when she grabs the head from the pouch hanging off the side of the saddle, she definitely considered throwing up the grilled cheese she had for lunch earlier.

After the monster is defeated she checks to see if Landon is okay, and after his long story of what happened, she pulls him in for a hug. They tried dating when he first got there, but Hope just couldn't. She always attracted to a pouty-lipped brown-eyed brunette girl, otherwise known as Josie Saltzman.

Hope was planning on telling Josie that she loved her, but as always monsters and saving the world got in the way again. Hope had given the brunette her blood to heal the gunshot wound she had received earlier. The blue-eyed girl felt terrible for putting the brunette into harm's way, though she shouldn't be surprised it always happens.

"So sweet." A greasy slimy voice utters from behind her.

When they turn to the voice they see Landon's older brother Clarke holding the last artifact in his hands. Hope grinds her teeth together at the sight of the creepy snake. He pretends to trip and the last artifact falls into the pool of black goo, she grips the whip in her hands and snaps his neck harshly then magically sending him into Malivore too.

"Hope what're we going to do the last artifact-"

"I have a plan, but you won't like it."

"What is it?"

"This."

Her wrists flick sideways and his neck snaps, she swallows the guilt down then grabs the phone from her pocket. She dials Dr. Saltzman's number and her thumb hovers over the call button then deletes it, instead, she dials the number of the brunette. She instantly presses the call button holding it up to her ear. It rings once then a soft silky voice spills out of the speaker into Hope's ear.

"Hope?"

"Hey, Josie."

"Are you okay? Dad told us what happened. Are you on your way back?"

Hope sucks in a breath then glances at Landon's dead body.

"Josie, I- I need to tell you something."

"Okay?"

"I love you, and not in a platonic way. In an 'I have loved you forever' kinda 'I love you' and I know that you're still getting over Penelope so I never tried to make a move until I knew you were ready. I also get if you don't want me back, but I needed you to know because you're amazing. More than amazing, absolutely perfect. And I wish that instead of being a coward I just told you I liked you when I was fifteen now I have to live with that."

Silence.

"Josie?"

"I love you too, Hope."

"You- you do?"

"Of course I do. Who wouldn't?" Hope chuckles at the familiar words. "But why does this sound more like a goodbye than a 'see you later'."

"The third artifact was activated, and when you got shot I got hit too but it didn't affect me so I found out that I am the one thing that can stop Malivore from rising. I have to jump into the pit."

"Hope, you can't."

"I don't have a choice, Jo." She utters sincerely.

"If this is goodbye then say it to my face."

The auburnette turns around to see the brunette stand behind her with the phone to her ear lowering it as they look at each other longer. The two are cut short by the ground rumbling and a face tries to appear in the mud. Hope draws in a breath, then looks back at Josie.

"My turn. I love you, Hope Mikaelson. God, I've loved you since we were kids and you gave me that flower after I fell off the swings. I've loved you since I saw those blue eyes stare into mine and not see a shadow but saw a person. You always saw me for who I am, you saw me as a powerful siphoner rather than a shy girl. So if you are going to jump into Malivore, then I am too."

"Josie-"

"No! Because I can't stand here and watch the love of my life throw herself into a pit of goo where I'll long and pine after you but have no idea who you are. I won't. I can't live without you, I can't imagine not walking to the docks to watch you train with dad."

With every word they step closer and closer when they stop their noses are inches apart.

"So are we in this together?"

"Always and Forever."

The blue-eyed girl helps the brunette onto the bars guarding the mud, and as Hope looks at her face she gulps heavily. A hand pulls her away resting on her cheek seeing only brown a warm brown one that she knows oh so well. Ones that she stares at whenever she has the chance. Taking the leap together Josie pulls Hope in for a kiss and darkness swallows them whole, but at least they have each other and to them, that's all that matters.
