Josie got home after school and collapses on her bed. She looks out her window which gives her the perfect view of her crush and neighbor, Hope Mikaelson. Hope looks frustrated she notices Josie and smiles softly. Josie grabs her writing pad flipping to an empty page. Ever since Josie can remember Hope and her would talk to each other by writing on the pads and showing them to each other.
'You okay?' Josie writes and shows her.
You're on the phone with your girlfriend, she's upset
She's goin' off about somethin' that you said
'Cause she doesn't get your humor like I do
I'm in the room, it's a typical Tuesday night
I'm listenin' to the kind of music she doesn't like
And she'll never know your story like I do
'Tired of Drama.' Hope sticks out her bottom lip for emphasis.
'Sorry :(' Josie gives her an apologetic look
Josie goes to write down a sentence she's been wanting to tell Hope for a while, not realizing Hope has shut her curtains.
Josie looks up to see the window covered by black curtains. Never the less she holds up the pad. In blue ink, it reads 'I love you.'
Josie stands up and walks over to her closet to look through her different styled outfits. She stands in her mirror with a t-shirt and jean shorts dancing around with her hairbrush, singing into it carefree.
Hope peeks out her curtain to see Josie dancing to a song and she smiles softly at the brunette then closes the curtain once more.
But she wears short skirts, I wear T-shirts
She's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers
Dreamin' 'bout the day when you wake up and find
That what you're looking for has been here the whole timeIf you could see that I'm the one who understands you
Been here all along, so why can't you see
You belong with me
You belong with meThe next time they see each other it's after school and Josie is reading a book she picked up from the library and Hope comes over and sits next to her. Josie looks over and sees Hope in a blue t-shirt and worn-out blue jeans.
They begin to laugh and talk about nothing really till Hope's girlfriend pulls up in her cherry red convertible. Josie rolls her eyes at the blonde waiting in the car. Hope and Lizzie kiss and they hug but Lizzie gives her a glare behind Hope and when they pull away Lizzie shoves Hope into her seat. Lizzie's wearing a short skirt with a pink top.
Walkin' the streets with you and your worn-out jeans
I can't help thinkin' this is how it ought to be
Laughin' on a park bench, thinkin' to myself
"Hey, isn't this easy?"
And you've got a smile that could light up this whole town
I haven't seen it in a while since she brought you down
You say you're fine, I know you better than that
Hey, what you doin' with a girl like that?Later that night Josie goes to a football. Not by choice but because she's in band she has to. She sees Hope walk onto the field with her team and the black streaks on her cheekbones bring out the blue in her eyes. Josie is in awe.
Lizzie cheers with her cheerleader friends on the sideline. Josie picks up the trombone placing the mouthpiece over her lips. They play their ditties and Josie is secretly screaming for Hope to win. Cheering her on in her head like Hope will hear her.
It's tied they just need one more touchdown to beat the rivals and Josie can see the determined look in Hope's eyes from under the helmet. The last play starts and Hope dodges everyone and the ball flies perfectly into Hope's arms as she runs into the end zone. The crowd erupts as everyone is jumping and bumping into Josie as she feels pride over what Hope has just done.
As Hope runs to the sideline to talk to her girlfriend she stops and sees Lizzie flirting and touching a teammate, Sebastian. Hope goes to confront the two and Lizzie just rolls her eyes and Hope stomps off. Josie's jaw is gaped open at the image she just witnessed.
She wears high heels, I wear sneakers
She's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers
Dreamin' 'bout the day when you wake up and find
That what you're looking for has been here the whole timeIf you could see that I'm the one who understands you
Been here all along, so why can't you see
You belong with me
Standin' by and waitin' at your back door
All this time, how could you not know, baby
You belong with me
You belong with meAs it is Prom night Josie should be getting ready but instead, she plans on staying in to study. She sees Hope in a suit and she thinks she looks absolutely amazing. Hope sits on her bed and grabs her pad as Josie reaches for hers.
'You going tonight?' Hope writes
'No, studying.'
'Wish you were.'
Josie laughs softly at Hope's face and watches as Hope tucks her hand into her pocket then walks out of her room. Josie looks at the slightly crumpled piece of paper in the corner of her bed. 'I love you.' Josie stares then stands up and heads to her closet and plugs in her hair curler.
Oh, I remember you drivin' to my house
In the middle of the night
I'm the one who makes you laugh
When you know you're 'bout to cry
And I know your favorite songs
And you tell me 'bout your dreams
Think I know where you belong
Think I know it's with meHope keeps watching the entrance looking for the brunette she was hoping to see tonight. When all of the sudden Hope lost her ability to breathe at the sight of the gorgeous brunette walk through the gym doors with grace as the white dress she wears trails slightly behind her.
Can't you see that I'm the one who understands you?
Been here all along, so why can't you see
You belong with me
Standin' by and waitin' at your back door
All this time, how could you not know, baby
You belong with me
You belong with me
You belong with me
Have you ever thought just maybe
You belong with me
You belong with me
Hope goes to walk up to her, but Lizzie grabs her arm to stop her, Hope dismisses her and keeps walking along till the two meet, in the center of the room. Josie holds a piece of paper in her hand as she unfolds and shows it to Hope a smile spreads across her freckled face.
Hope pulls out a identical piece of paper from her pocket and unfolds it to show the brunette.
'I love you.'
'I love you.'
The two smile widely as they step closer and Josie snakes her arm around the auburnette's neck and Hope goes to the brunette's waist and they look at each other in the eyes. Josie glances at the pinkish lips of the girl in front of her as they slowly lean in and as their lips meet in the middle the two knew that they belonged with each other.
