Chapter Twenty-One
A total of seventeen days passed since the day I suggested we take a break. And I hadn't seen or heard from Grady.
Maybe he was done with this. Maybe he didn't want to do this...didn't want me.
I was just about to give up hope when on the eighteenth day, I got a call.
And it was Grady.
I took a few deep breaths.
As soon as I pressed the talk button, Grady spoke.
"I'm done," Grady huffed.
My heart crumpled, and I had to catch my breath. "What?" I asked.
"I'm done," Grady repeated.
I broke out into a full on sob.
"What's wrong?" Grady asked, his voice full of concern.
"You - you said you're, that you're done," I managed to gasp inbetween sobs.
I didn't know this would effect me so much.
"I am," Grady said. "With the break."
I controlled my sobs, and managed to find the willpower to stop crying all together.
"The break?" I asked.
"Yes," Grady said.
"Oh. I thought you meant you were done with me."
"No, Aynsley. I want to be with you."
Butterflies fluttered in my stomach.
"And my mom?"
"We'll figure that out later."
I chuckled. "I'm so happy you want this. I don't know what I would have done, had you said you didn't want to do this anymore."
"I want you, Aynsley. I already told you that."
I smiled, though he couldn't see me. "I want you too."
"When can I see you?"
"Tomorrow night. Mom's going to be gone for a week and Drew is away, visiting his aunt for a few days."
"Great." I could practically hear Grady smiling.
"See you tomorrow."
"Bye, babe."
"Goodnight."
