Namjoon
"10 years together and still no proposal." My mother scoffs on the other side of the screen. "I want to see a ring on your finger when we fly to America for a visit, Namjoon!"
"Yah, we don't need to get married." I frown. "Although I'd love to be married to him, the topic never really came up. Don't pressure him, that's all I ask."
"No promises. Talk to you later~!" She ends the call. I roll my eyes and groan, resting my head on the table.
"Judging by that groan and head-slam, the call with your mom went well?" Seokjin chuckles, arms wrapping around my shoulders from behind.
"Absolutely amazing." I deadpan. "I don't know. She's just....wants something that we aren't ready for."
"Please don't tell me she's asking for grandkids." He mumbles against my hair. "I'm definitely not ready for kids."
"I'm not either, I wanna wait a while~!" I grin, standing and turning in his arms to place a kiss to his lips. "It wasn't that, it's not important."
"C'mon, we've been together for 10 years, Namjoon. I know when you're lying, it's obviously important." He frowns. "What's going on in that pretty head of yours, hmm?"
"Stop making me blush." I grumble, hiding my red face in his neck. "I'm just....thinking about what she said."
"Okay, well what did she say?" He raises an eyebrow.
"She was complaining about us not being engaged." I sigh. "In a way, I agree with her. 10 years is a long time to be with someone. But another part of me overpowers that thought. It says that when we're both ready, we'll know. Doesn't have to be anytime soon."
"I know I'm spending the rest of my life with you. I don't need a piece of paper to tell me that, doll." He grabs my chin and forces me to look at him. "But....I started thinking. The thought of you and I at the altar, making a promise to love each other unconditionally....I couldn't stop thinking about that for months. So I've been saving up....I got you something."
He takes a small box out of his pocket, opening it to reveal a simple silver band with NJ and SJ carved into it, a diamond heart between the initials.
"I know it's not the best ring, but I feel like it's meaningful." He smiles at me. I can feel a few tears slip down my cheeks. "Will you marry me, Kim Namjoon?"
"Yes, of course I will." I sniffle, wiping my eyes with my hoodie sleeve. He slides the ring onto my finger and tightens his grip around me.
"My beautiful baby. I love you so much." He smiles with tear filled eyes. "I really do. I promise, I'll treat you with so much love, care, and respect for the rest of our lives. I will. I'll never intentionally hurt you, or degrade you in any way. You're my precious prince."
"I love you, Seokjin. With my whole heart." I cry into his neck.
"Love you too, darling. I do."
