"Bye Marinette!" I looked back and waved to the raven-haired girl with my hand.

She gave me a small smile before the door closed and I turned my neck back around to find Gorilla parked in his signature silver sedan. The windows were tinted black and the car shined brightly from the curb. Yeah, he was still driving me around five years later.

Gorilla quickly got out and opened the back door for me, a faint smile on his face. It was rare he ever showed emotion, so I gave him one in return as I lowered myself inside. I had come to enjoy his small smiles and short grunts.

The burly bodyguard rounded the car and hopped in before he placed his hands at ten and two and put his foot on the pedal. Soon enough we were off.

While I enjoyed my day with Marinette, I was itching to go home since my father had promised he would eat dinner with me earlier that morning. Of course, I took everything he said with a grain of salt since most of his promises fell through, but I always stayed hopeful. My mother always told me that hope would guide me through life.

"Hmph," Gorilla grunted, signaling we had arrived as he pulled the car in front of my father's mansion. I slid over and opened the door before hopping out. The silver sedan drove off to the garage and I began my walk up the many steps to the wooden large doors.

As soon as I entered I smiled at the picture of my father and I. While I missed my mother dearly, I had finally moved on a bit. After over half a decade of her missing...the wound slowly healed up.

"Hey, Nathalie!" I nodded towards my father's assistant. Though I really considered her family. She took care of me in my mother's absence and she was always understanding when my father wasn't. Nathalie also taught me most of my life and tutored me when I needed help.

"I'm glad you're home Adrien," Nathalie smiled as she walked over to me with her signature tablet in hand.

"You should take a break sometime Nathalie, you deserve it," I told her as we met in the middle of the steps.

"Thank you for caring Adrien, but I assure you I'm good," She replied, before continuing on. "On another note, your father wanted me to inform you he will not be able to make it to dinner tonight. He-"

"Figures," I let out a sigh and shook my head. I shouldn't have been disappointed, because it was normal for him to cancel but I couldn't help it.

Ever since I saw Marinette and her family I couldn't help but realize how distant my own father was. As sad as it was, I was envious of my friends. Sure I had a stable career and access to any item I wanted, but I still missed the warm feeling of a fatherly hug.

"Adrien you know he's busy with planning the gala,"

"He's always busy with something," I murmured quietly before passing by her and heading up to my room.

"Adrien-"

I ignored Nathalie and hightailed it to my room. My entire day was great. I got to see one of my good friends and we talked about something other than my career. And then of course my father had to ruin it.
