We arrived at the gala just in time.
Vivian clung to my arm and I could tell she was a little nervous. She was used to being alone with little company so I couldn't blame her for being socially terrified. For most of my life I was just as sheltered. The real world was something I didn't know about until I got the first drink splashed on me in a pub.
Marinette decided to take Vivian to the restroom while I went off in search of my friends.
My mood was still dampened by our earlier fight. I could admit I was being a bit biased but no one wants to believe their father was the villain they were trying to take down for the past six years.
Six long years...just to find out Hawkmoth was right under our noses. Right there at the tips of my fingers. I wasn't sure how I didn't figure it out sooner.
Well, I knew exactly why I didn't figure it out. He wasn't on my list of suspects. I mean why would he be? He was my father and as far as I knew he was too busy to be a villain. Plus he was akumatized at one point.
Our only evidence on him for the longest time was that he had the book of heros. But now I couldn't deny my father was Hawkmoth. Not anymore. Nathalie even confirmed it.
And it hurt. It hurt to be betrayed for another time.
But what I couldn't understand was why? Why did he want our Miraculous so badly? What wish did he want to fulfill? How did he even get the Butterfly and Peacock Miraculous?
"Adrien!" Nino greeted me with a bro hug and I gave him a small smile.
"Hey Nino,"
"Where's your date man?" Nino asked, looking around for Marinette.
"Oh, she's helping my half-sister out in the bathroom," I shrugged my hands into my pockets. "I could ask the same about your fiancée,"
As if on cue Alya appeared from behind Nino, coming from the bar area.
"We're getting toasted tonight babe!" She screamed out and handed Nino a Sex On The Beach.
"Hell yeah!" Nino yelled before downing the beverage as if he had never had something to drink.
"Oh hey Adrien, where's Marinette?" Alya shot her drink down as well.
They were crazy.
"Oh she's helping my sister in the bathroom," I repeated.
"Since when did you get a sister?" Alya asked, a little taken aback.
"It's a long story, I'll tell you later," I passed a small smile and Alya nodded.
"Adrien! Adrien! Can we get croissants?" I felt Vivian tug at my arm and I looked down to see her blue eyes wide, and I could tell she really wanted those croissants. And I wasn't opposed to some either.
