Shinee's POV
"Anna, why did you ask to meet me? I have other things to do," I complained as I sat on the vacant chair in front of her.
Her face is contorted. She's even pouting. She's acting like a kid again. "What do you want? We both have many cases to handle."
"I'm curious about the cases of killings around our area." She looked at me. "First is the headless man's case. Second, the restaurant owner's case was just reported a while ago. And now, a pawnshop owner is reported missing. Aren't you curious about that?"
I nodded. "I'm also curious but I'm too busy to watch the news."
"Xerine is one of the witnesses to the headless man's case."
My curiosity went up. "What?"
She showed me her phone and played a video. It's a news video. A reporter interviewed Xerine.
"Why did she get involved in this?"
"She was the first one who saw the corpse."
My forehead creased. My curiosity keeps on wrecking my veins. Something is off. Odd and a mystery. I know that Xerine is mysterious but being involved in that kind of thing is different.
"Maybe we should contact the families. We can serve those victims."
She chuckled. "I thought we both have many cases on the run? Looks like you want to add more."
I smirked. "We are born to serve with justice and to give justice."
Marcio's POV
"You're still very elusive, my love," I whispered while staring at Xerine's photo.
Xerine Delgado is my ex-girlfriend. One of my ex-girlfriends. She's odd and mysterious. She doesn't give a damn about what people will say to her, but will be fucking mad when someone started picking flowers.
I cheated on her then she broke up with me. Bitch, that wasn't intentional. I didn't want to do that. That's fucking false.
I need to do that. I know that she's a girl with so many dreams. And who will not lose hope and confidence when your girlfriend likes it more when she sees plants than being with you?
But I know I should let her go that time. I know that I'm tired and fed up, but I can't lose her. But I can't also let her be tied with me. Look at her now. She's fucking successful despite her age and tragic past.
Her father killed her mother in front of her. Then her father died because of Prostate Cancer. She was left alone yet she can support herself because she's smart.
But that doesn't mean that I will let someone have her. I know that this is kind of toxic to hear, but I've been stalking her since we broke up.
She was too young before when we entered our relationship. And I'm five years older than her. I don't want to be a hindrance to her success, but it's time to win her back.
I get my phone out of my pocket and dial a number. After a short ring, someone finally answered the damn shit call.
"Hello."
"Where is she?"
"She's in her company right now, but tonight, she's going to a cruise ship."
"What about her whereabouts these past few days? You haven't reported many. Are you hiding?"
"Sir, to be honest, sometimes I'm losing track of her. I can't find her sometimes. I'm very sorry."
"Just do your job. Bye."
I threw my phone to the wall. Xerine is always like that. Sometimes I don't also know where to find her. She disappears then comes back later on.
Maybe she's into something new. What could that be?
Xerine's POV
"Punyeta namang buhay 'to," I whispered to myself.
Almost everyone here at the cruise ship party wants to talk to me about my business and wealth. They're annoying. I hate them so much because I feel suffocated.
I hope someone can drag me out of here. It feels like I'm going to be suffocated. The smell of their perfumes is already sticking on my red backless trumpet gown.
I forced myself to get out of the crowd. Their perfumes are too wild. Their mouths are stinking.
I was startled when someone grabbed my hand. That person dragged me somewhere. I just realized that we're inside a luxurious room.
"Thank you," I said in a formal tone.
He is not facing me, but he's wearing a black tuxedo and those pairs of patent leather oxfords.
"Why are you so formal, my Xerine?"
My heart skipped a beat as he finally faced me. There's a wide grin on his lips while looking directly at me.
"What do you want?" My hand clenched into a fist.
"You're always mad when I'm around. Are you still affected by my presence?"
Without uttering any word, I faced the door to open it. Shivers went to my spine as I felt one of his hands holding mine.
"Have dinner with me, Xerine," he pleaded. "Just this once."
I blew air and faced him again with an emotionless expression. "Tangina, can you stop bothering my life?"
He chuckled after hearing me cussed again. He's crazy. Maybe even crazier than me. "Do you want to eat steak? Caviar? Saffron? Oysters? White truffle?"
All of those are luxurious foods. Those get often served in a cruise ship, restaurant, first class planes, and more. Maybe he drags his chef here to brag about how successful he is. But, I also like to play with him since I'm already here.
"I want TapSiLog," I proudly said with a brimming smirk of triumphant.
"What?" His forehead creased. "What the hell is that?"
I laughed sarcastically. "Tapa, Sinangag, and itlog. You can also add hotdog and tocino to make it complete. Also, I want a black coffee."
I walked towards the table with two vacant seats in the middle of the luxurious room.
I looked at him without wiping the wide smirk away. "Aren't you aware that that's delicious? You can't serve that to me? Poor thing."
He smiled and that surprised me. Why is he smiling? He is fucking weird.
And the next words he said made me lose my mood.
"Coming right up."
