Chapter 13

Xerine's POV

I let my body fall on the futon on the floor. It's already night time and I am going to stay here in my treehouse. I can still feel that someone is watching and following me, but I am too overwhelmed with this place.

I just ate cup noodles for breakfast. There's no such thing as electricity here. I just have candles and flashlights. It's not hot here. The fresh air from the trees is already enough to make me fall asleep. This is what I always wanted in life. Every day with nature. That's why I am going to kill those people who keep on harming nature.

I will use them as fertilizers. I will burn people down under the trees since they need carbon dioxide. I can give my whole life just for nature. If I am going to die, I want to die here.

I didn't use my phone the whole night. I slept well and woke up with lots of morning glory. I am feeling a little better here. Maybe I should go somewhere else. I need to explore this forest. For sure I will see some birds and other animals. I am wishing for snakes.

I went down from my treehouse. I have already eaten breakfast. I am planning to take a bath. I don't know where I could take a bath. As far as I remember, there's a lake here. But I don't know where. I should leave some marks. I am good with directions, but this forest is too big.

I am with my backpack, but I have already lessened the things inside my bag. Of course, I am also with my chainsaw. I am expecting something good to happen.

The strange feeling that someone is following me is not gone yet. Is that person a pervert or what? Am I being chased by a forest monster? Is this a joke? Well, whatever.

Marcio's POV

"Where is she going?" I asked myself.

Last night, I launched an emergency camping for Pete's sake. I am glad that my driver is very efficient. He bought a lot of food and other things that I coulduse. How can Xerine stay in this kind of place? Mosquitoes last night turned me into their dinner. It's pretty annoying to stay outdoors. Especially when outdoors are like this.

She loves nature this much. I also saw her treehouse. I think it's comfortable inside that treehouse.

I followed Xerine. She's walking silently. I can't let her get out of my sight. If that happens, I am the one who will be lost.

From afar, I saw an illegal logger. He is cutting a tree using a large chainsaw. I know that that's illegal. This is an exclusive secluded forest. Who would dare to cut trees here? This is also a somewhat protected area.

I know Xerine will scold that man. If that man will try to hurt Xerine, I will save her. I will get a chance to get her back.

I walked towards them. But I made sure that they couldn't see me. I won't let that man hurt Xerine.

But, I froze when I saw what Xerine did.

S-She just...

She just snatched the chainsaw from the man and in just a blink of an eye, the man is already bathing in his blood. He is leaning on a tree with the chainsaw still on and stuck inside his doomed chest.

I don't know what to do. I want to run. I want to fucking hide.

B-But shit...

Xerine is looking at me now! She's smirking!

What the shit!

Anna's POV

"Why did you call me? I'm sleepy. I need rest," I groaned because Shinee called me to go here to the crime lab.

"We now have suspect," she said while we were climbing the stairs. "It's for the case of the restaurant owner."

"Who then?" I asked, confused.

"I still don't know." She frowned. "I will not call you to go here if I know who it is."

I rolled my eyes. I'm not in the mood today. Yesterday was my first menstrual day for this month. Me and my husband fought last night as well. I smelled a different perfume on his clothes. I jumped to a conclusion. I'll punch him later.

We entered a meeting room. Full of police and detectives. Some forensics are here too. I know some of them. They will tell us the truth and what they found out because we're involved in this.

"We already have a suspect. Thanks to the forensic team." The chief of police said.

Every one of them is involved. Many people are trying to help. Now we have a suspect.

"The suspect is a very intelligent woman. She is also famous and elegant." The chief announced.

Me and Shinee are just watching and listening to him. Everyone is listening. I am kinda excited yet bothered about this. And bullshit, the suspect is a girl?

"She is..." The chief pressed a remote. A picture showed on the screen. "Xerine Delgado."

I gasped and immediately looked at Shinee. She's also shocked. I even saw her gulp.

"After long days and sleepless nights of investigation, we found a fingerprint in two crime scenes. Inside the restaurant and the burned building."

I can't say a word. I don't even know how to react. This is a big surprise. Why Xerine? Why her?!

"We're glad that we have a great database. We found Miss Delgado's fingerprint in Mr. Pachenco's office and Mr. Husebio's restaurant."

"Are you sure about this?" Shinee asked.

"Yes, Ma'am. All footage is gone, but fingerprints are heavy evidence. We are aware that you two are close to Miss Delgado. I hope you will still help us to solve these cases."

I nodded, still dumbfounded. "S-Shinee, why Xerine?"

"We need to find her," Shinee said. "We need to find her as fast as we can."

"Tomorrow, we are going to get a warrant. We're going to check Xerine's company and house." The chief said again.

He proceeded, but I couldn't understand him anymore. This is impossible.

How can a girl like her do this? Is this even real?
