A few days later, Phoenix was sat alone in a room on a starship back to Mith. She wasn't happy to be going home but she had at least delayed her leaving by a few days so she could finish her duties to the best of her abilities. There were still a million things that she wanted to do but Obi-Wan had been clear in what he wanted and what he wanted was her to go back to her home planet despite her protests.
As it turned out, he would be accompanying her and for the first time in years, he would be returning to the place he had fallen in love with her. Phoenix had discarded most of what Obi-Wan had said when they boarded the starship and instead, she left the room to sit alone. The room she had moved to was large and empty.
Only two things were in it. A small couch and a large window so she could watch the ship as they travelled through hyperspace. She often wondered how they made the glass so it didn't break but after a couple of trips, she learnt not to question it. The process of making ships would always be a mystery to her. She didn't have the time to learn between her multitude of duties in the Senate.
But she still admired the ships. Mostly she was just glad they existed. Without these ships, her planet was still be lonely and isolated with very little trade with other planets but now they had that. Trade is what Mith thrived off of. Trade and the stories and myths. Those myths brought tourists especially to the capital city.
She had always been happy to call Mith her home and now she represented them which she thought was an even bigger honour. She just hoped that she could live up to what they wanted. So as she scrolled through the datapad, she looked through the news coverage that was being displayed across Mith and it was surprisingly positive. There was obviously some gossip and speculation within but that was trashy news sites that not many people even trusted. Almost everyone praised her for the handling of the assassination attempts.
It was more frustrating that she had to leave Coruscant at all, though. She loved her planet more than anything but being pulled away from Coruscant felt like a death sentence for her productivity. Being on Coruscant was a time where she could make trade deals and people were now beginning to listen to her. She had hoped to make more trade partners during her time away but Obi-Wan and her assassins clearly had other plans.
Obi-Wan had been the one to tell Palpatine that she should return to Mith. He was using it as a ploy to try and pull the assassins out into the open where they could more easily be caught. If a platinum blonde was found returning to Mith, they would alert Obi-Wan and it would be easy to attract their attention.
It would just mean that they could finally catch the assassin and Phoenix could be comfortable again. Phoenix wouldn't have to suffer through sleepless nights and constant nightmares which is what she was facing the past few nights. She woke up crying or screaming or covered in sweat. She didn't sleep at all one night. It was leaving her more and more restless and exhausted.
