Finn Mikaelson had heard all he needed from Kol and Mikael's conversation. It explained the strange feeling of peace he had since he woke up. Finn thought it was because all his siblings, Freya and Henrik especially, were safe and sound around him. But, with the news of the arm-ring and its magic, Finn could finally understand the peace he was feeling.

Yet, he still needed answers. He staggered to his feet, quivering as he glanced at the kitchen door.

"Don't worry." Henrik said gently, holding Finn's hand to help him steady himself. "Just ask what you want to know. He might give you straight answers, but... well, father will give you an answer... Besides," he smiled, "I'll be here—we all will—once you come back. Nothing can hurt us if we stay together..."

"Gods... I really hope you are right, Henri," Finn said, gathering all his courage and praying to all the gods he could remember.

"Finny... My boy... I was wondering if you would come..." Mikael said, raising his gaze. His voice was tender, so full of love and care. "You look well, son. Much better, I'd say. How do you feel? Everything alright, I hope?"

He was cooking, making pudding and other sweets. Flour covered his hands and face in spots of white. On any other day, Finn would have to stiffen a laugh. But tonight, after everything, he had to hold back tears.

"Father," Finn muttered, holding his breath. He held on to his arm-ring like it was a lifeline. "You-you look..." he stammered, forcing out the words, tears mapping his face. "I'm-I'm fine, father. Thank you—thank you for not—forgetting me... I know how forgetful—I know I'm easy to leave behind... So thank you for--"

Mikael had crossed the distance between them, pulling Finn into a tight hug. "You are difficult to forget, my boy," He said, his voice heavy, almost harsh, yet still caring, still tender. "There hasn't been a day—a single moment—where I wasn't thinking about you, son. You matter. To me, to your siblings. You will never be left behind again, never. You have my word, son. The darkness, the pain...it's all over now, my Finny..."

Finn sobbed, holding onto Mikael for dear life. So afraid that letting go of his father would wake him up from this wonderful dream, and that reality was the cruel darkness of the coffin his siblings had left him in for so many years. He could not remember the last time he was at peace, not like this. His mother had promised him peace twice, but she could never take away his sorrows; no matter how much he tried his best. Finn had felt like a monster for so long, but now, crying in his father's arms, he was a child, lost in the dark for too long; and finally home again...
