Aiden Blackwood

I was told by my father that there had been wondering rogues around the territory which didn't set too well with me.

A rogue wolf: Driven by pure rage most of the time but every once and a while you found one that was truly good. Most of the time they were either banished by their pack or were out seeking a new life. They always carried a musky scent about them that set them apart from pack wolves.

With the knowledge of these wolves running about I was sent to patrol the pack's territory, along with some of the top ranked warrior wolves. We had quickly shifted and set out on the mission to sniff out the intruders.

While the group dispersed throughout the land I took the northern side of our territory. The land was hard as I trudged across mountainous areas, my wolf's paws crushed the icy snow as he continued forth with his nose to the ground. A light flurry began as he came to a sudden stop, a bursting , yet faded, scent of something sweet melted into his flaring nostrils. At that moment his digits flickered forward atop of his large cranium, the sound that filled his erect ears was as sweet as the scent he'd picked up.

I was usually at the front of my wolf's mind when I allowed him to take over but for some reason the howl that echoed over the Alaskan mountains like the sweetest of tunes had him darting away from our search. I was thrown completely to the back of his mind as he used all his efforts to follow this enticing smell. His tongue lolled out over his open muzzle while he happily skipped along the snow covered terrain, it had seemed that no matter what I tried to do to take control he was hypnotized by something.

After some time my wolf's icy blue irises shifted toward the sound of movement up ahead, in his stance he was ready for anything... except the sight that fell before him. Although I was stuck in the backseat I was instantly drawn to the wolf before us, it was like I was being pulled in toward her by some invisible string.

'Mate.' We thought in unison.

My wolf, in a state of thought, mindlessly took a step forward in which drew the female's attention toward us. Once her fiery eyes met mine I melted and the world seemed to just pause around us. I hadn't thought of running into her like this, with her honeyed and peach smell I could have sworn she was pack but an underlining of that Rogue musk was rippling off of her. Our moment, however intoxicating, was broken with an ear shattering growl from the female's chest as she peeled her lips back to unsheath perfectly protruding incisors.

A threat.

Possibly to the pack in which I quickly acknowledged and at that moment I took charge of my wolf again. He had been irritated at the fact but I forced him from surfacing again while I dealt with the she-wolf. She hadn't stopped her growling since she had began but with my vibrating snarl toward her the wolf quieted down a bit. My stance shifted to one that was ready to attack although that was the last thing I wanted to do. Her muzzle folded back to it's normal resting place as she watched me, alert but staying still.

She was closely scrutinizing me and I her, all for good reason. For a second I had thought she would shift back to her skin side but that didn't happen. Out of no where she scurried off in the opposite direction I had come in, I was about to follow suit when the familiar chuffing sound of my pack mates were heard behind me.

'Who was that?' One of the brutes asked, his voice echoing through our mind-link. Someone had offered to follow after the rogue but I quickly cut them off.

'I don't know,' I quickly replied back.' Let's end the search here... Pick back up tomorrow morning.'

I'd have to find her again... after the first few seconds she had gone my mind and my wolf's mind was filled with thoughts of her. He urged me to go now but I needed to speak to my father about this.

Please give me feedback on this chapter! This is my first book and I would like to know how it played out for you all before I continue! Thank you.
