The survivors of Mount Weather trudged through the forest, finally making their way home, Erica walking alongside Bellamy. She hadn't spoken a word to anyone the whole way back, her mind was racing, her heart was pounding. Her mind was still having trouble processing all that had just happened, all the people she'd murdered.
Bellamy knew not to press her, he just quietly stood by her side until she was ready to talk. Erica had a lot of feelings, and she got overwhelmed by them rather easily. whenever this happened, Bellamy learned that it was best for her to sort them out in her own head and then to share them with him.
As they came upon the Camp, Erica let out a satisfied sigh. Her people were safe, they were home. Friends, family, lovers and everything in between were reunited, filling Erica's heart with love.
Love that almost made her want to stay.
Almost.
Erica reached out for Bellamy, grabbing his fingertips softly and turning him towards her. "Bell, I need to tell you something,"
"What's wrong, are you hurt?" His brows furrowed, and he pulled her away from the crowd to examine her for injuries.
"No, I'm fine," Erica shifted uncomfortably, digging her heels into the soft dirt beneath them. "I-I can't stay here, Bell."
The Blake boy was confused. He shook his head and wiped a stray tear that had spilled our of Erica's eye. "Of course you can, sweetheart. What do you mean?"
"I've done terrible, terrible things."
"We all have," Bellamy's tone was urgent, he couldn't bear the thought of her leaving, not when all of this chaos was finally coming to an end. "You didn't do anything you didn't have to do. The rest of us have done worse. You're good, Er,"
"There is no good anymore, Bell,"
"Don't say that, please. You don't mean it,"
"I don't know who I am anymore. I've been feeling myself slip away for so long, and I think-" Tear after tear slipped down Erica's cheeks, like a soft rain pouring through the clouds. "I think Erica Parker is gone. I can't lead the way that I should, I can't love our people the way that I should. I'm broken,"
"Then leaving home isn't going to help. You should be here, with people that love you! You should be here with me," Bellamy placed his hands on Erica's cheeks, resting his forehead against hers. "Please don't leave me. Please. I just got you back, I can't lose you again." Tears were now slipping down his own face.
"Death follows me everywhere I go. I try to bring light, but I only bring darkness. These past few weeks have shown me that. I've served my purpose, Bellamy. There's nothing left for me to do here. You're safe, our people are safe. I can find peace now,"
Bellamy pulled away, looking at her confusedly. "Find peace? What does that even mean? Where would you even go? I won't let you go. Something could happen to you out there. You need to be with the people who love you. I love you,"
Erica gave the boy a soft smile and sniffled, running her fingers through his hair. "I have something for you," The blonde reached into her pocket, pulling out a long leather strap with a blue stone on the end.
Bellamy gasped quietly, gingerly taking the necklace from her dainty hands. "Where did you find this?"
"Dante's office. It was the first thing I asked him for, he told me they never found it. I guess lying runs in the family." Erica's attempt at a joke wasn't enough to make Bellamy smile. "Keep it. You can give it back to me when we meet again."
Bellamy's honey colored eyes met Erica's. "What if we never meet again?"
Erica stroked Bellamy's cheek softly, and he leaned into her touch. "We will, I promise."
He grabbed her wrist and pulled her to his chest, kissing her perfect pink lips softly. The Blake boy held the girl tightly, as if he'd never hold her again.
Erica allowed this to happen, for she knew she would never see him again. Throughout everything, Bellamy had been there. He'd loved her through it all, and it pained her to leave him the most.
Bellamy's heart was breaking, but he knew he couldn't ask her to stay for him. For far too long, Erica had put the needs of others before her own. Now, it was time for her to come first, even if that meant she'd leave him.
They stayed like this for a moment, the taste of their tears running heavy on their lips.
Erica pulled away, running a hand through the boy's soft hair.
"Just in case," He whispered softly.
"I will love you, one way or another, for the rest of my life. You are my first love, my best friend. I owe you my life. Thank you for everything."
The blonde stepped back, not releasing Bellamy's hand until the last possible second. "May we meet again,"
"May we meet again,"
Erica had been wandering through the forest for hours, until she came upon Mount Weather.
As she stood in the dining hall, the faint stench of rotting human flesh filled her nostrils. Her eyes were drawn to a familiar face, one that was hardly recognizable due to the extensive burns on her skin.
"Maya," Erica sobbed, kneeling next to her old friend. "Im sorry,"
For a few hours, she sat there, screaming and crying in agony. She was disgusted by herself. By what she'd done.
After there were no tears left to cry, Erica found herself sitting at the ledge of the waterfall, where she, Clarke, and Anya had jumped a few weeks ago.
She swung her legs back and forth, watching as the waterfall crashed violently.
She looked to the sky, remembering her life amongst the stars.
For a moment, time stopped, and something in Erica flipped a switch.
She leaned forward, and she flew.
When she hit the water, Erica Parker died, and someone new was born.
