Chapter Tobias - Dating, Cake and Realization

Tris POV

My heart skips a beat when I see Four walk over to Chris and I. Even the way he walks is perfect.

He eventually reaches to where we stopped and waited for him and he goes in between me and Chris and puts his arm around us. I can't help myself but blush. I feel my face get red so I try to hide it from them.

After just about a minute we walk into the cafeteria and take a seat at a table with 7 people sitting there already.

"Hey guys, this is Tris. She just moves to Dauntless." Christina says

"Hey! Nice to meet you!" the whole gang says in unison like it was rehearsed.

Christina goes around the table naming everyone. There's Uriah and Zeke who are brothers. Then Shauna and Marlene who are sisters and then Lynn, Will, and Al. Chris goes to take a seat beside Will and gives him a kiss.

"Woah." I say I guess too loudly because the whole table heard and laughs.

"What's wrong?" Chris asks

"Oh umm... nothing... it's just in Abnegation no one ever really showed affection so it was weird for me to see that." I hate how I get so awkward in front of people I don't know.

I see Four tense up when i mention Abnegation. I wonder why that it. Maybe it was just coincidence.

"Anyways," The boy I think his name is Uriah says "I'm gonna go get me some Dauntless Cake"

"Bring me some too? Pleaseee. You're my favourite brother!" said Zeke

"Zeke, im your only brother."
Before i know it everyone at the table is begging Uriah to get them a slice. He finally gives in and when he gets back he's holding 9 slices of Dauntless Cake. I don't even touch mine but everyone else is done within seconds.

"Wow. You guys ate that fast." I say with a little chuckle.

"Tris. Have you ever tried this cake?" Four asks me

"Well, no but it's just cake" and as I say that everyone mouths drop and i get a huge spoon full of cake in my mouth.

"Holy mother of pearl that's amazing!" I say while stuffing the rest of the cake in my mouth.

"Now do you understand why we ate that cake so fast?" Four asks

"Oh yes" I reply.

The rest of the lunch goes by so fast. I feel so comfortable with this group now. It's like I've known them forever.

The bell rings and we are all off to gym which surprisingly, we all have together.

I'm so excited for this class. I love gym and sports. I'm so good at it. The girls and I head in the change room to change and when we all get out our teacher announces that we will be running around the track today and we will be timed. I'm excited I get to run. I feel so free when i'm running.

We all walk to the track and when the teacher says go we have to run around the track 4 times.

"Go!" the teacher yells.

I make it around the track 5 times and finish with the fastest time 4.46. Four is right behind with a time of 4.50. I could have done better but I am a little out of shape.

"Wow Tris, you run faster than Uriah can eat a slice of dauntless cake." Four says

"oh.. Uh... thanks Four" I can feel my cheeks getting redder but it's disguised by the tiredness of running.

I need to stop getting so red around him its embarrassing. I can't seem to get my mind off of him. I know I've only known him for not even a day but i can't help myself. I think I'm starting to fall for him. But I know he'll never feel the same way.
